QUEHL, Frederick -- At K-W Hospital in Kitchener, on Saturday, Feb. 11, 1984, Frederick Quehl, aged 90 years, of 45 Adelaide St., Kitchener. Mr. Quehl was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and had owned and operated Quehl's Butcher Shop in Waterloo for a number of years. Survived by his beloved wife, the former Helen Loebsack, with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 28, 1983. He is also fondly remembered by his two grandchildren, Lynn and David Helwig of Kitchener and son-in-law Robert Helwig, also of Kitchener. Brother of Mrs. Dora Murray of New Hamburg and Mrs. Thomas (Martha) Kaufman of Tavistock. He was predeceased by his daughter, Gladys Helwig in 1975; his parents, Anna and Henry Quehl and four brothers and three sisters. Mr. Quehl's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, after 2 p.m. today. At noon on Tuesday, removal will be made to the St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 248 Highland Rd. E., for the funeral service at 2 p.m. (Tuesday), with Rev. Norman Berner and Rev. A.J. Baetz officiating. Interment to follow in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo.

At his residence, 51 Stirling Ave. N., Kitchener, on Sunday, Oct. 20, 1974, after a lengthy illness, Henry Quehl, age 76 years, resident of the Twin Cities for 35 years, had been employed at J. M. Schneider Ltd. until his retirement in 1967, a member of the 25 Year Club of Schneider's. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Canadian Lutheran World Relief.

Husband of Marie Litschgy (Hahn); father of John, Kitchen- er; Mrs. Clare (Elaine) Schneider, Woodland Hills, Calif.; step-father of Mrs. Dennis (Lucille) Papillon, Kitchener; brother of Fred, Kitchener; Charles, Mrs. Agnes Leibler, Mrs. Thomas (Martha) Kaufman, all of Tavistock, Mrs. Carolyn Steiner and Mrs. Dora Murray, both of New Hamburg, Mrs. Pauline Wagner of Stratford; five grandchildren and nine step grandchildren also survive; predeceased by his parents, his first wife Erica Stock and two brothers.

Friends may call at the Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W. Kitchener, until noon on Tuesday, when removal to St. Peter's Lutheran Church will take place, where the funeral and committal service will be held at 3 p.m. with Dr. H. W. Opperman officiating. Inter ment will be in St. Peter's Lu- theran cemetery.

She resided in New Hamburg and was born 80 years ago, a daughter of the late William E.G. and Dora (Quehl) Murray. Chris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg where she had served as financial secretary until recently. She had retired from the CIBC in New Hamburg after 45 years of service. Chris was a member of The 39 Plus Club and a charter member of the Restless Seniors, both of New Hamburg, and served on many charitable and volunteer organizations. Chris enjoyed being with her family, reading, card games and gardening as her hobbies. She also enjoyed the annual family migration to Algonquin Park. Beloved wife of Richard C. (Dick) Ritz whom she married July 30, 1946. Loving mother of Pam Ritz and Joey O'Born of Kitchener, Judy and Ted Seyler, Bonnie May all of New Hamburg, Richard (Rick) and Janice Ritz of Kitchener. RITZ, Betty After a lengthy journey with ill health, Betty Ritz passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 2, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family, at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband Ernst (Ernie) Ritz, whom she married 66 years ago; sons Bill (Kathryn) and John (Betty), two grandsons, Joe and Jake (fiancée Kate Bottoms); granddaughters Stacey (Scott Neigh) and Marcia; step-grandsons Brock Dixon (Sharon) and Travis Dixon; great-grandson Liam Ritz-Neigh and step-great-grandson Braylon Dixon; brother, Jim (Gywinith) Murray; sister-in-law Betty Murray; six nephews Rick (Janice) Ritz; Steve (Mary Lou) Murray, Rob (Carol) Murray, Tom Murray, David (Annamarie) Murray, Mark (Kimberly) Murray; seven nieces Pam Ritz, Judy Seyler, Bonnie Ritz (Mark), Jane Murray, Ann (Jamie) Patton, Susan Lantz, and Lynn (John) Leduc; and many grandnephews and grand-nieces. Predeceased by her parents, William E. G. Murray and his wife Dora, neé Quehl; sisters Jean (Eugene) Hofstetter, Christine (Dick) Ritz, brother Bob Murray and grand-daughter Jean Ritz. Also lovingly remembered by Shirley Unrau, Gladys Kropf, Patricia Kropf, Marie and Greg Voisin, and Dianne Ritz. Betty was a life-long resident of New Hamburg and was well known as the founder of The Stationery Store (now Office Pro). Prior to that she was cashier at the family business then known as Murray's Food Market for over thirty years, where she made a large number of friends and acquaintances. Her generosity, love of people, and concern for others endeared her to all. She served as a President and a Life Member of the former New Hamburg Women's Institute. After her retirement in 1991 she became ill and underwent a liver transplant June 3, 1993; the Ritz family is eternally grateful to the donor's family, whose generosity gave them an additional 19 cherished years with Betty. On recovery she became a fund raiser for University Hospital, London, and a devoted advocate of organ donation. For some years she was a volunteer at the MCC Thrift Shop and also at Seniors' programs at Nithview Home. She was a recipient of the Wilmot Citizen of the Year Award in 2002. She was active for years in the ELW of Trinity Lutheran Church and also in the provision of food and refreshments at funeral services. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Tuesday, June 5th from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday, June 6th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg, with Pastor Andre Lavergne and Pastor Anne Anderson officiating. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, the Music Scholarship Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church, Canadian Lutheran World Relief, or a charity of your choice.
