    Buschert Chester, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Buschert, was born at Winterbourne, Ont., Dec. 28, 1889; passed away at his home in Preston, Ont., Sept. 18, 1946; aged 56 y. 8 m. 20 d. On Oct. 20, 1923, he was married to Mary Edna Snyder, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Robert, of Goshen College, Goshen, Ind.; and Donald and David, both at home), one sister (Mrs. Alex Sheriff, Carstairs, Alta.). and 3 brothers (Ivan, Cereal, Alta.; Joseph, Kitchener, Ont.; and Ammon, Waterloo, Ont.) In his early youth he united with the Mennonite Church, and for many years served as Sunday-school superintendent. In 1944 he was ordained to the office of deacon, and was actively engaged in charitable and mission organizations of the church. Funeral services were in charge of B. B. Shantz and Oscaar Burkholder, assisted by Levi C. Hartzler, of Goshen, Ind., and Merle Shantz, of Kitchener. Text, Acts 11: 24. His body was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

    Buschert, Robert C., 71, Goshen, Ind. Born: Nov. 28, 1924, Preston, Waterloo Co., Ont., to Chester and Mary Edna Snyder Buschert. Died: Jan. 22, 1996, Elkhart, Ind., of leukemia. Buschert chaired the physics department at Goshen College, 1965 - 1994, and was founder and director of the Turner Precision X-Ray Measurements Laboratory for solid-state research since 1970. He graduated from Goshen College in 1952, received a master's degree and doctorate from Purdue. He also worked for Bell and Motorola companies. Survivors-wife: Joy Martin Buschert; children: Allen, Russell, John Ross; brothers: Donald, David; 3 grandchildren. Congregational membership: Assembly Mennonite Church. Funeral: Jan. 26, College Mennonite Church, by Mary Lehman Yoder and Harold Bauman. Burial: Violet Cemetery.

    DONALD EDWARD BUSCHERT 1928 - 2010 Passed away at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo, on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Rudy) and loving father of Karen Buschert and her husband Geoffrey Vanderkooy and Kevin Buschert and his wife Clare Leonard. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Theo, Miranda and Emily Vanderkooy and Anna and Oliver Buschert; brother David Buschert and his wife Joyce and his sister-in-law Joy Buschert. Fondly remembered by Betty's family, brothers-in-law Carl Rudy (Ruth), Willis Rudy (Susan), Harold Rudy, John Rudy (Catherine) and Elvin Rudy and sisters-in-law Doreen Good (Dale), Barbara Stager (Arthur), Karen Bergey (Ed) and Elizabeth Rudy. Predeceased by his parents Chester and Mary Edna Buschert; brother Robert Buschert and brother-in-law Glen Rudy. Born March 16, 1928, in Galt, Donald grew up in Preston. Donald's career as an educator and business manager led him to a 19 year teaching position at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate as well as owner of Rural Carriage Supply in Elmira. Donald's faith kept him active as a lifetime member of Preston Mennonite Church as a Sunday School teacher and involved on several committees of the church. Family was very important to Donald and he enjoyed family vacations, sailing and steam trains in his spare time. Friends are invited to share their memories of Donald with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, January 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Preston Mennonite Church, 791 Concession St. Cambridge on Friday, January 22 at 11 a.m. Interment at Hagey Mennonite Cemetery Cambridge. Following the service please join the family for a time of reception and fellowship in the church hall. Condolences for the family and in lieu of flowers, donations to Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or to a charity of your choice may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445.
