    DEATH OF GEORGE MARTIN.

It is with deep regret we chronicle the death of John George Martin who died at the Berlin Waterloo hospital on Tuesday morning despite all that medical aid and skill could do, at the age of 40 years, 2 months and 29 days. For the past 3 months Mr. Martin bad been in the hospital suffering from appendicitis. He entered the hospital in May and since then has been operated upon three times by Drs. Howitt of Guelph and Armitage of Waterloo. From the first his recovery was considered doubtful but after the third operation he seemed to be getting along nicely until last Saturday when he gradually grew weaker and all hope of saving his life was abandoned. He lingered on until 5 o'clock Tuesday morning when he breathed his last, surrounded by his grief stricken relatives. Mr. Martin was well known throughout the county having been a painter and paper hanger for the past twenty-five years. He was very obliging and industrious and was very popular with the farming community. He was married some years ago to a Miss Knarr. They resided at Rumelhardt on a small farm consisting of 45 acres. He was a consistent member of the Lutheran church. The widow and two children, Emma, 16 years old, and Clayton 6 years old, are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. He was a brother to Martin Bros., proprietors of the bookstore, Waterloo. The relatives and friends have the sympathy of the community in their sore bereavement. The funeral will take place from the the residence, Rumelhardt, Thursday forenoon at 9.30 o'clock to St John's Lutheran church, Waterloo for service, thence to the David Eby
