2006SHANTZ, Clayton - Passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the age of 83 years, of Elmira.Loving husband of Olive (Gingrich) Shantz for 57 years. Dear father of Donna and Craig Cameron of Toronto, Keith and Liz of Hawkesville, Elwood and Marsha of Thornhill, Stewart and Jane, Kathy and Steve Hiller, all of Elmira, Gloria and Stew Bauman of Texas. Loving grandfather of 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Edna and Noah Bowman, Vernon and Alice Shantz, Naomi and Wayne Martin, Ollie and Elsie Shantz and Orvie and Mary Shantz and brother-in-law of Ella Shantz and Edna Shantz as well as Wilma Gingrich, Eileen Martin, Doris Gingrich and Fern and Harold Metzger.Predeceased by his parents Oliver and Susannah (Martin) Shantz, and by his two brothers Abner and Aden Shantz and brother-in-law Vernon Martin.Clayton will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends for his kind and friendly manner and his great sense of humour.The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At 12 noon on Tuesday, Feb. 7 transfer will be made to Bethel Mennonite Church, RR1, Elora for memorial service at 2 p.m. with Pastors Steve and Linda Brnjas officiating. The casket will remain open in the church until 1: 45 p.m. Family interment in Bethel Mennonite Cemetery.In memory of Clayton, donations can be made to Bethel Mennonite Church Building Fund, Mennonite Central Committee or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre as expressions of sympathy.Special thanks to the 8th floor medical staff at Grand River Hospital for their compassionate care.
