    In Memoriam Died In North Dumfries Township, Ont., on Thursday, December 6th, 1906 at 7 o'clock. a.m., Prasillia Schiefley, Widow of the late Enoch Snyder. Aged 6[0] years, 8 months, 15 days. The Funeral Will take place on Sunday afternoon, 9 inst., at 1.30 o'clock, from her late residence, to the Roseville Cemetery. Friends and acquaintances will please accept this intimation.

    Notes:

    Snyder - Bro. Ira Snyder of near Pigeon, Mich., died March 14, 1909, of appendicitis; aged 29y. 2m. 21d. He was married to sister Anna Schaaf in December 1907. He leaves his sorrowing wife, infant daughter, 4 brothers and 4 sisters to mourn his departure, but they need not mourn as those without hope. He was taken ill suddenly about four days before his death and was removed to the Saginaw Hospital where he underwent an operation and died there. His remains were brought to the home of his father-in-law, Andrew Schaaf. Funeral was held Mar. 17, at the Mennonite Church at Berne. Bro. Peter Ropp preached in German, taking for his text, Psa. 16: 6, and Preacher Dodd of Elkton in English, taking the text, Eccl. 9: 10.He was a member of the Mennonite church, also Asst. supt. And teacher in our Sunday school where he will be greatly missed. May God comfort the sorrowing ones.

    Notes:

    Witmer, Sophia, daughter of Enoch and Priscilla (Sheifley) Snyder, was born on June 4, 1881; died Nov. 7, 1962; aged 81 y. 5 m. 3 d. On Jan. 9, 1909, she was married to Jesse Andrew Witmer, who died Sept. 15, 1916. They had two children, both of whom preceded her in death. She served on the staff of the Braeside Home for five years, when her health failed and she became a guest of the home until her death. Funeral services were conducted at the Preston Church, Nov. 10, by Howard Good, assisted by Albert Martin.

    Braeside Home was a home for the aged that served the Mennonite Conference of Ontario and the local community, with a capacity of 25 guests. It was established 1 May 1943 in the town of Preston, Ontario and placed in charge of a superintendent and matron, John A. and Dora Cressman. The formal opening and dedication was held on 1 June 1943. The deed for the property was held by the Mennonite Conference of Ontario. A management board, consisting of five brethren appointed yearly, with the superintendent as a nonvoting member, was responsible for its operation.

    In 1956, the Fairview Mennonite Home, also in Preston (later Cambridge), Ontario, opened and the Braeside facility was closed.

    Witmer.-Verena Ida, the only daughter of Mrs. Jesse A. Witmer, was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., on Nov. 18, 1910; passed away at Preston, Ont., May 24, 1936; aged 25 y. 6 m. 6 d. She had been in failing health for some time and the end came peacefully on the above date. In her early years she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of the Blenheim Mennonite congregation. She bore her affliction with Christian fortitude, expressing a love for her Savior, keeping on the victory side, and manifested a keen interest in the mission cause. She left a bright testimony and expressed a desire to depart and be with her Lord. Her mother is the lone survivor, her father having died twenty years ago, and a brother a year later. Funeral services were held on May 26 with services at the home by Bro. B. B. Shantz and at the Hagey Church with Bro. B. B. Shantz in charge, assisted by M. H. Shantz. Text, Psa. 39: 4, 5. Burial in the Wanner Cemetery.

    Witmer. - Gordon Levi Witmer was born near Preston, Ont., July 27, 1913; died Jan. 7, 1917; aged 3 y. 5 m. 11 d.His death was caused by diphtheria from which he suffered only about ten days.He leaves to mourn his early departure his mother, one sister, grandmother, and other relatives and friends, who deeply sympathize in this hour of sad bereavement.Burial took place on Jan. 7 at Wanner,s cemetery beside his father, who died nearly four months ago and his grandfather who died eight months ago.Memorial services were held on Jan. 21, at Hagey's church, conducted by Bro. Ben. Shantz.
