    DANIEL SCHERER.

    The death took place in Preston on Friday, Dec. 12th, of Mr. Daniel Scherer, who has been in ill-health for some time. His wife passed away a few days ago. The deceased was in his 68th year. He was born in Germany, coming to Canada when a young boy and settled with his parents at Roseville, and then moved to Waterloo. About 15 years ago he moved to Preston. He is survived by five children, Mrs. Alex. McDougall and Frederick of Dayton, Ohio, from the first wife; Mrs. Walter Ruppel, Elmira, Herbert and Clayton, Preston. One sister, Mrs. Daniel Knechtel, Roseville, also survives. There are eleven grand-children. He was a charter member of the A.O.U.W. Lodge, Waterloo, and transferred to Preston Lodge, No. 72. The funeral took place on Sunday after noon at 1 o'clock from the residence, Queen street, Preston, to Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends can see the remains at the cemetery Previous to interment.

    Notes:

    Oliver Knechtel, age 59 years, passed away at Kitchener on Friday morning at his home, 36 Benton St., following a stroke. Mr. Knechtel was born in Roseville, and was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle.

    Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Emil Knechtel, and two sisters, Miss Catharine Knechtel, all of Kitchener, and Mrs. Fred Smith of Galt. The funeral took place on Sunday with services at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Thompson, Kitchener, and at the Pentecostal Tabernacle. Burial was made in Woodland cemetery. Rev. Mr. Smith officiated.

    AMIEL KNECHTEL

    The death of Amiel Knechtel occurred suddenly late Saturday afternoon at his home, 8 Cedar street. He was 51 years, one month and nine days of age. Mr. Knechtel was born in Roseville, October 22, 1883. He was married June 30, 1921 to Anna Weber. He was employed at the Rumpel Felt.

    Surviving are his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Smith, Galt and Katherine Knechtel of Kitchener, One brother Oliver Weber and one sister, Mrs. David Ernst predeceased him.

    The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3.30 from the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral home. Interment will be made at St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery. Rev. H. A. Sperling, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran church, will conduct the services.

    PRESTON, Mrs. Henry Walter Ruppel, 73, of 426 Duke St., died today at Coutts Pavilion, Freeport. Born in Waterloo, Mrs. Ruppel, lived in Preston for the last 60 years. She was the former Elma Scherer. Active in church work, she was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Chureh, a former treasurer of the Ladies Aid and a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of Easlern Star. She is survived by her husband, Henry and one son Howard, also of Preston. Two grandchildren also survive. Services will he at the H. K. Stager Funeral Home, Monday, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in l'arklawn Cemetery.

    PRESTON, Sept. 17 - Clayton Alexander Scherer, a resident of Preston for many years, died early today at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 61. He had been ailing for the past year and confined to hospital for 10 weeks. Born in Waterloo, Mr. Scherer came to Preston as a youth and resided here since that time. A machinist by trade, he was employed by Preston Woodworking Machinery and Eastern Steel Products, during the past few years. For 22 years prior to that he was a bread delivery salesman in Preston and in that work formed a large circle of friends. He was keenly interested in sports. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, he was also a member of Preston Cambridge Lodge, 1.O.O.F. Surviving are his wife. the former Mary Mitchell; three sons, Carl and Roy of Preston and Frank of Galt, two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Doris) Bartholomew and Mrs. Edward (Marjorie) MacDonald of Preston: a sister. Mrs. Walter Ruppel, Preston and a brother, Fred Scherer of Dayton, Ohio. Seven grandchildren also survive. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, where the funeral will be held Wednesday, at 2.30 p.m., with interment in the Preston cemetery.

    Formerly of 180 Melrose St.. Cambridge, on Wednesday, Dec 18, 1991, at her residence, 824 King St. E., Cambridge, after a lengthy illness, Doris Scherer, in her 79th year. Beloved wife of Harold W. Bartholomew; dear mother of Harold William and his wife Shirley of Guelph. John Clayton and his wife Jean of Elmira, Shirley and her husband Robert Nanson of Scarborough and Delores and her husband Wayne Thaler of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Roy Scherer and Franklin Scherer, both of Cambridge. Predeceased by her parents; one brother, Carl and one sister, Marjorie MacDonald. Mrs. Bartholomew was horn in Cambridge (Preston) and was a life-long resident. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Cambridge. She and Harold had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in October. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Thursday), 7.9 p.m. and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will he conducted at the funeral home Saturday, Dec. 21, 1991, at 1: 30 p.m. Interment Parklawn cemetery, Cambridge.

Mr. Scherer was born in Cambridge (Galt) and was a lifelong resident. He was a. retired superintendent of Screen Print of Brantford; a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Preston Branch 126. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral and committal service will be conducted at the funeral home Monday, April 10, 1993, at 1: 30 p m., by Rev.
