    BURKHARDT, Melvin L., son of Menno and Hattie (Lichty) Burkhardt, was born in Woolwich Twp., Ont., Jan. 19, 1917; died at Kitchener, Ont., Apr., 7, 1984; aged 67 y. On June 21, 1941, he was married to Erlene CRESSMAN, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons (Ross and Brian), one daughter (Janice ? Mrs. Edward Pencer), 3 grandchildren, 3 brothers, (Eugene, Mahlon, and Donald), and one sister (Nora ? Mrs. E. Clare Shantz). He was a member of Erb Street Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Apr. 11, in charge of Wilmer Martin; interment in Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery

    Melvin married Erlene Catharine Cressman 21 Jun 1941. Erlene (daughter of Jacob H. Cressman and Salena Shantz) was born 16 Apr 1919; died 2 May 2006, Owen Sound, Grey Co., Ontario, Canada; was buried , Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery, Waterloo City, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada.     Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at age 69. Beloved husband of Judith-Ann (nee Dunlop) for 48 years; loved father of John and Lynn Burkhardt, loving grandfather of Ryan, and Joshua Burkhardt; and dear brother of Brian and Ursula Burkhardt. Ross will also be sadly missed by legendary hunters and fishermen from the Ottawa Valley to Sioux Lookout. A Memorial Reception to celebrate Ross' life will be held at the Waterloo Knights of Columbus, 145 Dearborn Place, Waterloo on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. with special memories shared at 8 p.m. Condolences for the family and donations to the Mennonite Central Committee may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
