ZELLER, Vernon - At the K-W Hospital, on Tuesday, March 26, 1974, following a brief illness, Vernon Zeller, of 247 Franklin St. N., Kitchener, and formerly of Breslau, age 77 years, he attended the Breslau Missionary Church. Until his retirement in 1966, he was a carpenter with Honsberger Lumber for 20 years.

Husband of the late Violet Hagey who predeceased him in 1971; father of Robert of Mississauga, Henry of Kitchener, Ronald of London, Caroline (Belle) (Mrs. Howard Battler) of Breslau and Irene (Mrs. Wayne Good) of Zepher, Ont.; brother of Ira of Kitchener; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive; predeceased by one sister.

Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, until noon Friday, when removal will be made to the Breslau Missionary Church for service at 2 p.m., with Rev. E. Sparks officiating. Interment Breslau Mennonite cemetery.

BATTLER, Caroline Isabelle Caroline Isabelle "Belle" Battler passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Trinity Village Care Centre, Kitchener. She was born at home in Breslau on March 23, 1920 to Vernon and Violet (nee Hagey) Zeller. Belle joined her beloved husband, Howard who passed away July, 1987. They were married on July 4, 1943. Much loved mother of John (Penny) of Kitchener and Dan (Gloria) of Breslau. Beloved grandmother of Tori (Dan) Ryder of Kitchener, Vicki (Malcom) Sargla of Kitchener, and Brent (Kim) Battler, of Elmira. Will be fondly remembered by her eight great-grandchildren Holden and Makenna Ryder, Rebecca, Olivia and Grace Sargla, Owen, Sarah and Kaden Battler. Survived by her brother Robert Zeller, of Mississauga; sisters-in-law Margaret Zeller of Kitchener and Margery Battler of Brantford. Predeceased by her brothers Henry and Ron, sister Irene, sisters-in-law Mary and Gloria; brother-in-law Wayne Good. Belle was a longtime member of Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church (attended until the age of 90). She was baptized in the Breslau dam and loved and served the Lord all of her life. She was a nursery supervisor for 30 years and remembered all the babies' birthdays for many years. She worked at Smiles and Chuckles for 10 years and then for 26 years at Breslau Public School as a custodian. Here she was known for her "sticky donuts" which she made for teachers and many special get togethers. She retired at the age of 67. She also worked as a camp cook at Stayner Campgrounds for many years. Belle was funny and very loving, loved to laugh, hated to sing, and was a great cook. Friends are invited to share their memories of Caroline with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment Breslau Mennonite Cemetery, Breslau.

Jacob Henry -- At Clinton Hospital, on Sunday, April 4, 1982, suddenly, as the result of a heart attack, Hank Zeller, of 58 Tecumseh Cres., Kitchener, aged 53 years. Had been employed at Bell Canada Ltd. for 38 years and was a member of the Bell Pioneers. Husband of the former Margaret Beitz; father of Paul of Hinton, Alta., Mrs Paul (Judy) Majury and Mrs. Brian (Linda) Bretz, both of Kitchener; brother of Robert of Mississauga, Ronald of London, Mrs. Howard (Belle) Battler of Breslau, Mrs. Wayne (Irene) Good of Blythe. One granddaughter, Shannon also survives. Predeceased by his parents. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, were prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Anthony Daniel RC Church at 10 a.m., with Rev. Wayne Good and Rev. Michael Bennett officiating. Interment will be in Woodland cemetery. Donations ot the Ontario Heart Foundation may be made as expressions of sympathy.
