RUDOW - JUNG - the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jung, King Street, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Thanksgiving Day, when their only daughter, Miss Emma, was united in marriage to Mr. Fred Rudow, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rudow, Sr. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. Strempfer at high noon under a beautiful arch decorated with smilax.

The bride was given away by her father and was attired in cream Duchess Monseline satin trimmed with Bebe Irish lace and pearls. She wore a veil in Juliet style also trimmed with pearls, and carried a shower bouquet of white Chrysanthemums. The bridesmaid, Miss Laura Sippel, was dressed in white mull over pale yellow satin with a Juliet cap to match and carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. The groom was attended by his brother William. The wedding march was placed by Miss Alma Dreisinger, piano, and Mr. Amandus Herz, violin. The groom's gift to the bride was a handsome set of furs, to the bridesmaid a fine brooch and to the best man a gold watch fob. Many valuable gifts from relatives and friends were received by the bridal couple.

After the ceremony the guests to the number of about fifty sat down to a sumptuous wedding dinner, the tables being beautifully decorated with carnations and smilax. During the dinner hour the guests were entertained with music by Miss Dreisinger and Mr. Herz. Among the guests from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Sanford, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Sippel, and children, Berlin, Master Walter Battenberg, Wellesley. The happy couple left with the four o'clock CPR train for Toronto, Detroit, and other points, the bride travelling in a suit of navy blue broadcloth and black Valeur hat to match. On their return they will reside in Elmira.

    BATTENBERG, Alfred
    EARLY CALL TO YOUNG MAN
MANY FRIENDS HEAR WITH REGRET OF THE PASSING AWAY

The people of Elmira on Saturday morning received with a shock the news that Alfred Battenberg had passed away. Although he had not felt well for a couple of weeks, he had only been in bed for a few days. He started with pneumonia, complications set in, the heart was affected and the end came quickly.

The deceased was the son of Rev. H. and Mrs. Battenberg of Clifford who are left to mourn his early departure. Four sisters and four brothers also survive namely, Ruth, Esther, Hildegard and Gertrude, all at home. Oscar of London, England, Walter of Milwaukee, Herbert of Chicago, Arthur of Brussells. His aged grandparents Mr. and Mrs. C. Ziegler with whom he had his home, also outlive him with other relatives.

The deceased was employed with the Elmira Plumbing and Tinsmithing Company where he earned a good opinion by his employers as a willing and efficient workman. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, its Young People's Society and its Sunday School Teaching staff and everywhere he showed his faithfulness and willingness to work. Alfred carried a cheery smile and a friendly word wherever he went and was a most welcome guest at all social gatherings of his friends. His family and circle of young friends will sorely miss him but may console themselves with the thought that the Lord has granted him his reward early and taken him to the realms of eternal bliss. His earthly remains were laid in their last resting place on Tuesday afternoon. After a short service at the home, the funeral cortege proceeded to St. Paul's church where his Pastor, Rev. A. Gallmeier, in the English language, and Rev. F. Malinsky, in the German tongue spoke words of comfort and hope to the bereaved friends. Interment followed in the Elmira Union Cemetery.

The pallbearers were, Messrs. Victor Muth, Milton Steinke, Edward Klinck, Oscar Bleck, Harry Weichel and A. Borchardt.
