    Notes:

    Jacob Brehler, an esteemed citizen of Mt. CIemens, died at an early hour this morning, to his 79th year. He had been In a feeble condition for some years and died simply because of exhaustion of physical forces.

    Mr. Brehler was born in Prussia. Hs came to America in 1847, settling in Canada. afterwards coming to Michigan, and to Mt. Clemens in 1876.

    He was the father of eight children of these four survive, Frank, William, Louis, and Oscar.

    Elmira \endash the principle community of the township. The town is located on lots 88 and 89 of the German Company Tract. John and Edward Bristow and their families settled in 1835. Edward Bristow purchased his lands from David Musselman in August 1846. The town was originally called Bristow's Corners, then West Woolwich. Other families arrived in town.
