    GARNER, Donald O. - At St. Mary's Hospital, June 27, 1979, after a lengthy illness, Donald O'Connor Garner, of 38 Woolwich St., Breslau aged 74 years.

    A member of St. Boniface RC Church, Maryhill; had been employed as a truck driver at Boehmer Box Co. for 33 years, until his retirement in 1975, due to ill health.

    Husband of the former Alice (Konkle Beckett); father of James D., Harley and Mrs. Kenneth (Gloria) Hipel, all of Breslau. Two grandchildren also survive, Michael Garner and Lynda Hipel. Predeceased by his parents, his first wife the former Marie Yantz and one grandson, Jeffery Garner.

    Friends called at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, where the funeral service was held on Friday with Father John Lawless officiating. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery, Maryhill.

    JAMES GARNER OBITUARY

    Saturday, April 3rd, 1926 - Saturday, June 18th, 2022

    Best known to us all as Jim, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at his residence; Lanark Heights, Kitchener at the age of 96. Predeceased by his wife Hazel (nee Totzke) (d. 2009) of 63 years, his sons, Jeffrey (d.1976), Michael (d.1999), and adopted son Fred Harman, his sister Gloria Hipel (d.2020), and brother Harley Garner (d.1999). Cherished uncle and godfather of Lynda Frey (Ron) and family, and Carole Schwartz and family. Survived by his beloved wife Bernice Meyer, and her family Judy (Paul) and Cheryl (Dave) and their families. Jim will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Breslau Mennonite Cemetery, 226 Woolwich Street South, Breslau. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-846. In lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).

    Passed away at home surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with breast cancer, on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Ken Hipel (2007). Loving mother of Lyn Frey (Ron). Proud Grandma of Laurie Schedewitz (Lance) and Kristy Schedewitz. Beloved "GG" of Shauna (Rob), Alex, Keanna, Jayla, Lincoln, Kayden, Bryce and Kendrick. Daughter of the late Donald and Marie Garner. Dear sister of Jim Garner (Pat) and the late Harley Garner. Predeceased by nephews Mike and Jeff Garner.
