    Duncan Dewar of Welles- ley Passes Away--Well Known and Highly Respected



    The funeral was held this afternoon in the village of Wellesley of an aged and highly respected resident of that place, when Mr. Duncan Dewar, aged 72 years, was laid to rest.

    On Monday last, death Mr. Dewar from the village, removed where he has resided for many years Before moving to Wellesley Mr. Dewar lived practically his life all on the Dewar homestead. Third line. When two years old. he was taken there with his parents from Scotland, who were early pioneers of the county, his whole life since being spent in the county. He has a large relationship among old families, being related to Robinsons, McGillowees and the McDonalds.

    Mr. Dewar was prominent in municipal life. He was a staunch Reformer. In religion he was a Presbyterian, being closely associated with that church at both the Third line and in the village. He was one of the most highly reisdents of the village.

    He was an enthusiastic bowler, and will be remembered by many of the Berlin club. Always an ardent bowler, when illness seized him. some years ago, he was made hororary member of the club.

    A widow and two sons survive him, besides one brother, Thomas, on the old homestead. Another brother Peter, predeceased him about twenty years ago.

    Burial took place this afternoon at the Zion Presbyterian cemetery, which occupies a position on one corner the old Dewar homestead.

    DEWAR, A. Anderson

    Peacefully, on Friday, Feb. 21, 1992, at his home, Nith View Home, New Hamburg, Archibald Anderson Dewar, formerly of Wellesley.

    Anderson was born in Wellesley 93 years ago, son of the late Duncan Dewar and the late Catherine McGillawee. He attended Linwood United Church and operated a plumbing and heating business in Wellesley for many years.

    Lovingly remembered by his wife, Florence Ratz, also of Nith View Home, New Hamburg, beloved father of Grace Houston of Mississauga, Mary and her husband Jack Pentland of Calgary, Carol and her husband John Dixon of Ottawa. Lovingly remembered by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by one brother, Alexander in 1983 also by two grandsons, Gary and Donald.

    Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St. Wellesley where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 24 at 2: 30, Rev. M.J. Parr and Rev. Gerald Schwartzentruber will officiate. Spring interment Zion Cemetery, Third Line, Wellesley township.

    Memorials to Nith View Home or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy for the late Anderson Dewar.
