    Lichty, Joseph R., son of John F. and Bar-bara (Roth) Lichty, was born in Elma Twp., Ont., June 18, 1890; died at the Listowel Memorial Hospital, Jan. 18, 1963; aged 72 y. 7 m. On Jan. 7, 1913, he was married to Catherine S. Wagler, who survives. They cele-brated their fiftieth wedding anniversary just two weeks previous to his death. Also sur-viving are 2. daughters (Nancy-Mrs. Dan Leis and Emma-Mrs. Aaron Jantzi), 2 sons (David and Samuel), 18 grandchildren, 3 brothers (John, Jacob, and Aaron), and 4 sisters (Beana-Mrs. Dan Albrecht, Barbara-Mrs. Joel Ropp, Catherine-Mrs. Noah Albrecht, and Chris-tina-Mrs. Valentine Nafziger). One sister and 2 brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of the Riverdale Church, where funeral services were held, in charge of David J. Jantzi and Menno Zehr.

    LICHTY, John

    The funeral service for John R. Lichty of Poole was held Tuesday, July 14, at Fairhaven Amish Mennonite Church.

    Mr. Lichty, 94, died July 12 at Listowel Memorial Hospital.

    Born in Elma Township on July 24, 1892, he was a son of the late John F. and Barbara (Roth) Lichty. His wife, Mary (Nafziger), died in 1963.

    A former resident of Wellesley, he farmed most of his life. Mr. Lichty was a member of Fairhaven Amish Mennonite Church at Poole.

    He is survived by three sons, Lorne and wife Laura of Millbank, Sam and wife Lillian and Noah and wife Leona, all of Monetville; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Vera) Horst of RR 2, Milverton, and Mrs. Jonas (Selina) Zehr of Poole; a brother, Aaron and wife Lavina of Elmira and two sisters, Mrs. Noah (Katie) Albrecht of Listowel Memorial Hospital and Mrs. Val (Christina) Nafziger of Millbank. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Mr. Lichty was predeceased by three sons, John, Ervin and Ivan; two brothers, two sisters and three grandsons.

    Friends were received at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home, Wellesley.

    Bishop Melvin Roes officiated at the service.

    Interment was in Mornington Amish Mennonite Cemetery, Poole West.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Sun Light Missions in Haiti.

Mrs. Albrecht was born in Alma township 86 years ago. Beloved mother of Edward of RR 3, Moncton, Lavina (Mrs. Menno L. Kuepfer) of RR 1, Newton and Lena (Mrs. George Robb) of Milverton; dear sister of John Lichty of Wellesley, Erin Lichty of Elmira, Katie (Mrs. Noah Albrecht), Tina (Mrs. Valentine Nafziger), both of RR 1, Millbank. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel S. Albrecht, August 19, 1973, also by three brothers and one sister. Visitation at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Menno Kuepfer, RR 1, Newton, where the funeral service will be onducted on Monday, Jan. 19, 1981 at 12: 30 p.m. Bishop Amos Albrecht will officiate. Interment will follow in the 7th line Amish Mennonite cemetery, Wellesley township. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St. W., Welllesley.

    Mrs. Barbara Ropp, 75, a resident of Albany and the Tangent area since 1916, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 1972 in an Albany Hospital.
    The former Barbara Lichty, she was born in Ontario. She moved to Albany and later farmed at Tangent from 1930 until retiring in 1943 and returning to Albany.
    Surviving are sons Harvey of Shedd and John of Tangent; daughters Mrs. Violet Ruckert, Tangent, and Mrs. Lavina Mannanbach, Woodburn; two brothers John of Millbank and Aaron, R.R. 1 Millbank; three sisters Mrs. Dan R. (Bena) Albrecht, R.R. 1 Newton, Mrs. Noah (Katie) Albrecht, R.R. 1 Millbank and Mrs. Valentine (Christena) Nafziger, R.R. 1 Millbank.
    She was predeceased by brothers Joseph, Jacob and Peter.
    Services were held Monday at Fairview Mennonite Church Albany. Rev. Verle Nofziger, Rev. Roy Hostetler and Rev. Clarence Gerig officiated. Burial followed in Riverside cemetery.

    LICHTY, Jacob R.

    WELLESLEY-Jacob R. Lichty, 66, of Sarnia, formerly of Wellesley, died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Sarnia.

    Born in Wellesley Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lichty. He was employed in Sarnia by a construction firm for the past 11 years after his wife died in 1953. He was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church.

    Surviving are seven sons, Edward, Brantford; Earl, West Montrose; Norman, RR 2, Baden; Jacob and Allen, Sarnia; Kenneth, Calgary, and Larry, Dryden; eight daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Frieda) Gerber, Crosshill; Mrs. Armand (Irene) Shantz, Heidelberg; Mrs. Melvin (Edith) Nafziger, RR 1, Milverton; Mrs. Reginald (Marie) Gooding, Mrs. Ronald (Clara) Connelly and Helen Lichty, all of Kitchener; Mrs. Ronald (Wilma) Kelterborn, Mitchell, and Mrs. John (Emmalene) Rose, Milverton; two brothers, John and Aaron, Millbank; four sisters, Mrs. Valentine (Christina) Nafziger, Milverton; Mrs. Noah (Catherine) Albrecht, Millbank; Mrs. Daniel (Bena) Albrecht, Newton, and Mrs. Barbara Ropp, Albany, Ore.; 31 grandchildren.

    Peacefully, on Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at her home, Knollcrest Lodge, in Milverton, Christina Nafziger, formerly of Millbank.
    Born in Wellesley 92 years ago. Daughter of the late John F. Lichty and the late Barbara Roth. Christina was a faithful member of Bethel Conservative Mennonite Church in Millbank. She was very active in many of the church's organizations.

    Beloved mother of Marion and her husband Arlan Erb of Millbank, Catherine and her husband William Kuepfer of Millbank. Mother-in-law of Kenneth Brenneman of Milverton. Lovingly remembered by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lavina Lichty of Elmira and by nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

    Predeceased by her husband Bishop, Valentine Nafziger (Oct. 31, 1994); by a daughter, Emmalene Brenneman (Feb. 27, 1995; by five brothers, Joseph, John, Jacob, Peter, Aaron and by three sisters, Bena and Dan Albrecht, Barbara and Joel Ropp, and Katie and Noah Albrecht.

    Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St. W., in Wellesley, where family and friends will be received today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Friday, May 2, 1997, removal will be made to Bethel Conservative Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2 p.m. Bishop Kenneth Brenneman will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Memorials to the Homestead of Knollcrest Lodge or Bethel Mission Fund, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy for the late Christina Nafziger.

    LICHTY, David W.

    David W. Lichty, 46, of Millbank, died Thursday, January 1, at Listowel Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

    Born Oct. 25, 1923 in Mornington Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lichty.

    He was a member of Riverdale Mennonite Church, and had operated a chicken hatchery in Millbank until ill health forced his retirement five years ago.

    Surviving besides his wife, the former Dorothy Gascho, are one son, Gerald of Millbank; a brother, Samuel, also of Millbank; and two sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Nancy) Leis, and Mrs. Aaron (Emma) Jantzi, both of R.R. 1, Millbank.

    The body rested at the Futher Brothers funeral Home, Wellesley, until noon on Sunday when removal was made to Riverdale Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 3 p.m., with Rev. Menno Zehr and Rev. David Jantzi officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

    IRENE SHANTZ 1925 - 2009 Irene died peacefully at Lisaard House in Cambridge on Thursday, November 19, 2009. She was 84. Loved mother of Bob and his wife Alison Smiley of Toronto, Jane Humphries of Waterloo and Steven of Phoenix, Arizona. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Cindy, Sarah and her partner Ingvar, Nicholas and his partner Rachel and Vanessa. Irene was predeceased by her husband Armand in February 1989. She was much appreciated by her large family of 14 brothers and sisters. She worked as a cook at Angie's Kitchen, Waterloo, was the owner of the Pennsylvania Kitchen restaurant in Kitchener and was the banquet chef at the Conestogo Inn for many years until her retirement. Family and friends were the fortunate recipients of her excellent cooking. Irene loved the sunshine. With her sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Ron Kelterborn, she lived most of each winter of her retirement in Florida. She and Wilma cherished their long walks on the beach together. Her family wants to thank the staff at Lisaard House for the thoughtful and loving care they gave Irene. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 2 pm with Rev. David Malina officiating. Cremation has taken place. Following the service, friends and relatives are invited to the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home for refreshments and a time to visit with the family.     Norman Lichty passed away peacefully at Chartwell Parkhill on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, formerly of Grand Bend at the age of 92. Loving husband of the late Kathleen (Berdux) Lichty. Beloved father of Patricia Heipel and her husband Keith of Grand Bend. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Allan and Shirley Lichty, Wilma Kelterborn, Emmeline and John Roes, and Helen Ariss. Predeceased by parents, Jacob and Mary (Schmidt) Lichty, sisters Frieda, Irene, Edith, Marie, and Carol and brothers Edward, Earl, Jake, Ken, and Larry. Norman was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. He was a true gentleman who enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. A special thanks to Dr. Lock and the outstanding staff at the Chartwell Parkhill for their amazing care, compassion, and support.

    He was born at Millbank, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Lichty, and lived in the Twin Cities for 31/2 years. He was an accountant with the Ontario Motor League until he became sick in February.

    Mr. Lichty was a member of First Mennonite Church and the church council and was youth Sunday school superintendent. He received his secondary school diploma from the Adult Education Centre in Waterloo and completed one year of the certified general accountancy course.

    Surviving besides his parents are his wife, the former Dorothy Cressman whom he married June 11, 1966; a son, Roger, and a daughter, Tania, both at home; four brothers, Melvin of Stratford, Delmer of Millbank, Laverne and Ivan, both of Kitchener; one sister, Florence of Kitchener, and paternal grandfather.     The body will be at the Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home until noon Tuesday when removal will be made to First Mennonite Church for service at 3 p.m. Rev. Robert Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Lichty, Raymond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Lichty, was born at Millbank, Ont., died at the K-W Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Mar 7, 1970, following a brief illness; aged 25 y. On June 11, 1966, he was married to Dorothy Cressman, who survives.     On October 14, 2014 at the age of 60, Gary passed away surrounded by his family. Gary was a man of great strength and courage. He had an amazing ability to have a ready smile. Husband of Theresa. Father of Angel and Scott (Val). Grandpa of Aaron and Ayden. Brother of Richard (Violet), Donald, David (Predeceased), Linda (Steve), Bobby and Ken. Brother-in-law of Larry, Stephen (Irene). Extended brother-in-law of Michael, Chris (Tammy), David (Sherri). Rose Marie was born in Kitchener 41 years ago, a daughter of the late Earl Kropf and is lovingly remembered by her mother, Selina Lichty (Zehr) of Milverton. She was a member of the Milverton Conservative Mennonite Church and was employed with the Festival City Nursery. Survived by three brothers, James Kropf of Sudbury, John Kropf of Kitchener and Peter and his wife Judy Kropf of Parry Sound. Lovingly remembered by her sister, Ruth Ann and her husband Larry Striecher of Tara. Also survived by three step-brothers and one step-sister. She also leaves a number of precious friends in the Stratford and district area and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a step-father, Jonas Zehr. Visitation at the Futher Bros.
