Mrs. Norman Mawson - Wilmot Township native Cora Irene Stager, died peacefully at St. Luke's Place, Cambridge, on Thursday, December 12, 1996. She was in her 88th year. Formerly of London, Mrs. Mawson was predeceased by her husband Norman Mawson and by her parents Naomi Schlichter and Ephraim Stager. She was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, London; was a registered nurse and was a veteran of the Second World War. She is survived by her son David and his wife Lynne of St. Catharines; her grandchildren Dylan, Christy and Paula; brothers William, Robert, Fred and Harley Stager and by her sister Muriel Robson. Funeral service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home on Saturday, December 14th. Rev. Lynne Calhoun of Christ Anglican Church, Ayr, officiated. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery.

ROBSON, Muriel Veronica (nee Stager) - Muriel Robson died in her sleep on May 9, 2009 at the Westmount Long Term Care Facility in Kitchener. Born in 1917 at Blackhorse Corners near Roseville, Ontario, Muriel was the daughter of Ephraim and Naomi Stager. Married to Donald Robson (1990) in 1950, together they made the Robson Farm on the 9th their home for nearly 40 years. Proud mother of Jim (Joy) Robson and Craig (Nancy) Robson of Ayr, and fond grandmother to Jessica, Andrew, Naomi, Alex, Daniel, Matthew and Meaghan. She was predeceased by her grandson, Michael; her brothers, Harold (infancy), Harley, Fred, Bob and Bill; and her sisters, Mary Aletha (infancy) and Cora. Muriel enjoyed her 22 years of teaching elementary school beginning in a one-room school at Greenfield in 1939, followed by positions at Sunnyside (Kitchener), Roseville, Reidsville and Wrigley's Corners. She was an active member of Knox United Church, Blenheim Dumfries Farm Women's Club, the JJ Ruggers Rug Hooking Guild and the Townline Community Club for many years. Canadian Held as POW for Four Years
Roger C. Stager married his wife Ruth on Nov. 4, 1945, less than two months after he was liberated from a prisoner of war camp in Japan by the Americans.
He was in San Francisco, California. The Red Cross gave him a free call, so he called his mother. He asked how much would it cost to make another call and he called Ruth. He proposed to her in the Toronto train station.
Robert and Ruth have three children and four grandchildren.

Death of Ruthanne Stager
Ruthanne Stager, 14, died suddenly Saturday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stager, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born in Toronto, she moved with her parents to Montpelier, Vermont, at the age of three months and to Grand Rapids when she was 6 years of age. She was attending junior high school in that city. Surviving, besides her parents, are two sisters, Maxine and Mary, and a brother Paul; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Grimmer, Ayr, and also grandmother Mrs. Ephraim Stager, RR 1, Ayr. Funeral service was held on Tuesday at the W. O. Ball Funeral Home with temporary entombment in Ayr Cemetery chapel. Rev. W. J. V. Buchanan officiated. The pallbearers were: Dr. Donald Twiss, Thornhill, William Stager, Lorne Park; William Dilly, Port Credit; Harley and Fred Stager and Donald Robson of Ayr district.
