During her lifetime in the Maryhill area Marcella was a member of the St. Boniface C.W.L and the Bloomingdale Womens Insitute. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid hockey and baseball fan and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and welcomed all visitors to the farm. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface R.C. Church, Maryhill, Fr. Jerome A. Zettel, 59 Arnold St., died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. He was 63.

Born in Kitchener April 10, 1904, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zettel. He was an employee of E. and E. Seegmiller Ltd. and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, and the Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Fries; three sons, Paul, Ronald and Dennis, all of Kitchener; a daughter, Shirley Zettel of Kitchener; and a sister, Mrs. Gordon (Kathleen) Kramp of Kitchener. He was predeceased by two sisters.

The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 pm by rev. R.W. Huras, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in (article cut off here)

Theresa retired from her home in Waterloo in 2002 and moved to Meadowcroft Retirement Place, Fieldgate Avenue in Kitchener where she spent her remaining years. In December of 2002, she celebrated her 100th birthday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church where she and her husband were active founding members. Many relatives and friends joined her to make this a memorable event. Subsequent birthdays were celebrated at Meadowcroft Place. Theresa was a longtime member of the C.W.L., first at St. Louis and in 1956 at Our Lady of Lourdes. During these years she was a member of the Monday Solo Club that originated at St. Louis and continues to the present time. She was also a member of the Waterloo K. of C. Retirees Club, who presented her a "Honourary Life Membership" on May 27, 2004. Theresa treasures fond memories of her many relatives, friends, neighbours and co-workers from Lehman's Book Binding and The Bean Printing.

Following his education at KCI and Stratford normal school he served overseas from 1942 to 1946 with the 28th Field Regiment of the Canadian Army. A longtime resident of Cambridge. he was employed for over 30 years at Babcock and Wilcox Canada retiring in 1976. He was a member of St. Clement's RC Church (Cambridge). A past member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a trustee of the former Preston Separate School Board. Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, on Wednesday, March 17 (today), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, Duke Street, Cambridge, on Thursday, March 18, 1993, at 10 a.m., with Father Leonard P. Obituary for John Clement Zettel

Zettel, John C.

On December 18, 2018 John C. Zettel passed away peacefully at the age of 89 following a brave battle with cancer.

John's beloved wife Jean (Loftus) passed away in 2016. They were married May 21, 1949 and shared a long and loving life together with their 8 children, Linda (Bob), Maureen (Larry), Patricia, Susanne (David), Carolyn (Frank), John (Kim), William (Penelope) and Jim (Catherine). Their children relied on their father's compassionate wisdom and unwavering support.

John is also lovingly remembered by 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom adore their grandfather's kind and gentlemanly ways.

John was the son of the late Alexander and Florence (Halter) Zettel and was predeceased by his four brothers, Wilfred, Roland (Babes), Matthew and Elmer.

John's many relatives and friends also relied on his quiet strength and guidance. He would often tell humorous stories about his experiences especially back in a time when being resourceful and sharing the load was a daily requirement for everyone.

After the farm John began his career as a Millwright and worked more than one job at a time to support his family throughout his earlier years. He spent 47 years in charge of machinery maintenance at Kuntz Electroplating and initiated programs including an Environmental Protection Program and an Emergency First Response Unit. Jean's Accounting and Bookkeeping business was always supported by John as the family continued to grow.

John received the Governor General's award for his volunteer work on the Maryhill Fire Department where he served for decades. John and Jean were also recognized for their many years committed to the Maryhill Historical Society, Maryhill School Trusteeship, Maryhill Knights of Columbus and they were lifetime members and contributors to the St. Boniface RC Parish in Maryhill.

John truly enjoyed rebuilding antique cars and he and Jean were often seen driving around town enjoying their collection. The "car barn" at home was a haven to all his antique car folk. It was quite normal for the driveway to be backed up with Model A cars of all sizes and colours. John had a special relationship with Jeff Dupuis, Fred Zenger, the Maryhill community and many more friends especially in the Historical Automobile Society of Canada and we thank them for their daily kindness.

Thanks also go out to Dr. Timmons and Dr. Knight and the GRH Nursing staff on the 6th Floor, A Wing Oncology Unit for all their support and care.

Predeceased by her parents William and Clara (Martin) Zettel, her brothers, Gerald, Joseph and Rev. Wilbert C.R. and her sister, Louise Fischer. Lovingly remember by the members of her religious congregation, her sister, Noreen Scherrer and relatives.

Upon graduation from Hamilton Teachers' College, Sister Helen taught in Hamilton at Holy Family and St. Helen Schools, in Kitchener at St. Anne and St. Aloysius Schools, in Welland at St. Kevin School, and in Oakville at St. Mary School, where she was also principal.
In 1961 Sister Helen was one of four Canadian pioneers of the School Sisters of Notre Dame to open the mission in La Paz, Bolivia. For the next six years she was director of St. Andrew School. Sister Helen supported the Bolivians in their struggle to improve their living conditions.

In 1967 Sister Helen moved to Comas, Peru, where she was involved in education programs for women and family catechesis.

On her return to Canada in 1975 she studied at Divine Word Centre in London ON. From 1976 to 1985 Sister Helen lived in Toronto and was actively engaged in ministry to the Hispanic community. She also served as part time staff on Canadian Urban Training Project and was involved in social justice activities. In January 1985 she was called back to Peru to assist in pastoral ministry in Santiago Parish, Lima and in 1990 to work with the seniors in rural communities in Canto Grande, Lima.
In the summer of 1999 Sister Helen returned from South America. In the following years her concern for the Hispanic peoples, locally and abroad, was foremost.

Visitors will be received at Notre Dame Convent on Friday, February 8 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-8:00pm. Prayer service will be held on Friday afternoon at 3:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Convent on Saturday, February 9 at 10:30am. Interment at Notre Dame Convent Cemetery.

Born Oct. 16, 1935, in Woolwich Township, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Moyer, RR 1, West Montrose. He lived near West Montrose all his life and was employed in the construction industry.

He was a member of St. Boniface RC Church, Maryhill.

Besides his parents, he is survived by five brothers, Elmer of Kitchener, Herman of Hespeler, Harvey of Guelph, Donald of Winnipeg and Wilfrid of RR 1, West Montrose; three sisters, Helen of Kitchener and Dorothy and Mary of RR 1, West Montrose.

The body was at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener, where the rosary was recited Sunday.

Prayers were said at the funeral home Monday after which removal was made to St. Boniface Church, for high mass conducted by Rev. John Lawless. Burial was in the Mayhill cemetery.

ZETTEL, Kenneth George - On Monday August 21, 2006 at the St.Catharines General Hospital in his 82nd year. Loving husband of his "best gal Sal" Sally (nee White). Ken was born in Kitchener in 1925 to Edward and Olive. Ken spent many years with B.F Goodrich, eventually rising to National Sales Manager. He later became owner of Niagara Rubber Supply of St.Catharines, creating thriving business it is today. He was well respected by both customers and employees. Ken's sense of humour was enjoyed by both his golf and curling buddies.. Proud to have broken 90 once! Ken loved jazz and big band music, as well as radio comedy and C.B.C. Radio. He was a loyal member of Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Port Dalhousie. Special thanks to Dr.Dennis Whitty who never gave up on Ken. Thanks also to Pat and her fellow nurses for all their good care. At Ken's request, cremation has taken place. Sister Rita started her teaching career at St. Mary's School, Cambridge. Then, she taught at St. John's School, Kitchener. At the following schools she had the added responsibility as principal - St. Teresa's and Sacred Heart, Kitchener; St. Mary's, Owen Sound; and St. Mary's, Elora. Afterward, she moved to Notre Dame of St. Agatha where she was the director. Sister Rita's years at Sacred Heart School in Walkerton came to an end when she was appointed administrator of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in England. In 1980 Sister Rita was elected as Provincial Councillor of the Canadian Province of the congregation, a position which she held for eight years. From 1989 to 1996 Sister Rita was treasurer at Notre Dame College in Waterloo. During her years of semi-retirement Sister Rita, an only child, attended to the care of her mother who died at the age of 103. Sister Rita was friendly with everyone and always sensitive to the needs of others. Visitors will be received at Notre Dame Convent on Tuesday, May 3 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-8:30pm. Peacefully, after an eleven-year struggle with early onset Alzheimer's disease, fought with great courage, openness and quiet dignity, surrounded by the love of her family, in her 64th year, at McCormick Home in London, on Friday, February 17, 2017. Much loved sister of Jack and his wife Carol of London, Patrick of Waterloo and Jim and his wife Patricia of Hanover and loving aunt to John Zettel and Hema Varghese and their children Maia and Jackson; Kaely Zettel and Will Hazell and their children Alexis and Xavier; Ben Zettel; Fr. Jim Zettel; Michael Zettel and Nicole Vassalo and their son, Brock and Jessica and Brad Antaya, and their daughters Miriam and Abigail. Predeceased by her parents; Hubert and Agnes (nee McGrath) Zettel. Born and raised in Cambridge (Preston), and a graduate of the Recreation program at Seneca College, Mary was an avid athlete who spent most of her adult life working as a sports administrator, coach, and mentor both at Seneca College and at Centennial College in Toronto. Over the course of her long career, she served as Varsity Co-ordinator for the athletic program at Seneca College, Manager of Intercollegiate Athletics at Centennial College, Athletic Director at Centennial College and treasurer, vice-president and president of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association executive. Her work in enhancing the effectiveness of sports administration and in furthering the aspirations of young athletes was frequently recognized by her peers, most recently with her induction in 2005 into the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Hall of Fame and with the establishment in 2008 of the Mary Zettel Athletic Scholarship at Centennial College. She was an exceptionally hard worker, a tireless team player for whom no task was too arduous or too menial, a warm and loving daughter, sister, and aunt, and a loyal, caring and compassionate friend to the many people, young and old, whom she welcomed into her life both before and after the onset of her illness. Though confronted in her final years by the very difficult challenges of a terrible disease, she remained positive, hopeful, and completely true to her own character, reaching out to help others by volunteering for as long as she could in the Alzheimer Outreach Services day program at McCormick Home, participating in clinical studies for new Alzheimer drugs and therapies, maintaining close contact with family, friends and former colleagues and keeping the demons at bay by continuing her involvement in sports and recreational activities. Mary's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to McCormick Home in London and especially its staff in Memory Lane, Maple Grove and Alzheimer Outreach Services and to the staff of Horizon Place in London. The loving care provided by the wonderful staff in both these facilities gave continued support and comfort to Mary and much solace to her family during the final years of her illness. We would also like to thank Mary's many friends whose visits from afar over the course of several years were a source of real joy to Mary at all stages of her disease. Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge (519-653-3251) on Tuesday, February 21st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Thomas Henry Dietrich was born into eternal life, Saturday July 28, 2018 following a brief illness. Thomas passed away peacefully at Trinity Village Long Term Care Center, Kitchener at the age of 78.

Thomas was a devout Roman Catholic, and member at St. Louis RC Parish in Waterloo, Ontario.

Always giving and caring, Thomas was deeply connected to his family and faith. Thomas always had a smile and a kind word for others and was always eager to help those around him.

His family and friends, though saddened by his passing, are comforted by the fact that he is at peace. We love you Dad, we love you Grandpa.

Father of Dale and his wife Anne-Louise, Brian and his wife Kyoung Hee. Brother of Paul (Anita), Mark (Marjorie), Margaret (Walter Hinsperger), Catherine, Richard, Leona (Wayne Henhoeffer), and brother-in-law Robert Murphy (Sharon).

Thomas was predeceased by his wife Joan (nee Murphy), parents William and Oliva and brother Frederick.

Thomas also leaves behind five grandchildren, Ben (Jennifer), Blake, Zachary, Gregory and Hannah, and great granddaughter Paisley.
The family wishes to thank Trinity Village and their extraordinary staff for the exemplary care provided to Thomas and for making his stay a happy one during his final years.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Thomas with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Phil Reilly as Celebrant. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Following the committal, friends are invited to join the family at the St. Louis RC Church Parish Hall for refreshments.
