    Mrs. Jacob Schweitzer

    CONESTOGO - Following a siege of 5½ years of illness, Mrs. Jacob Schweitzer passed away at her home here early on Saturday morning, at the age of 70 years. The late Mrs. Schweitzer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Fiddler, was born in Waterloo Township in July, 1869, and was married to her late husband in 1891. Mr. and Mrs. Schweitzer settled in Conestogo following their marriage, Mr. Schweitzer conducting a harnessmaker business for several years after which he acquired the hotel from his father bearing the family name and which under the new management became a province-wide famous tourist resort and during its 35 or so years in their possession was particularly noted for its excellent meals. Just prior to Mr. Schweitzer's death early in 1929, he had disposed of the hotel business but Mrs. Schweitzer continued to live here and enjoy the esteem of a large circle of friends. The late Mrs. Schweitzer is survived by one adopted son, Harry Fiddler, in Kitchener, two brothers and one sister, William in Kitchener, Henry in Grenfell, Sask., and Mrs. Wm. Heidlinger in Baden. The family's only child and son died in infancy. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon from her late residence where a brief service was held, followed by the main service in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, of which the departed was a devout member and during which members of the Ladies' Aid, of which she had been an executive member for some years, sang several hymns. Interment was made in the family plot on the adjoining cemetery. Rev. S. J. Wittig was in charge of the service throughout.

    Mrs. Wm. Heidlinger

    Mrs. William Heidlinger, nee Mary Fiddler, died at her home in Baden last Thursday night after a two-year illness. She was born in Waterloo Township, January 19, 1879, a daughter of the late John and Caroline Fiddler.

    She was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church, and took part in the Ladies' Aid Society.

    Besides her bereaved husband, she is survived by three sons, Harry, Kitchener, Albert and Victor, at home, three daughters, (Catharine) Mrs. Elmore Kraehling, St. Agatha, (Marjorie) Mrs. Titus Roth, New Hamburg, and Betty, at home, two brothers, William M. Fiddler, Kitchener, and Henry Fiddler, Grenfell, Sask. Five grandchildren also survive. One sister, Elizabeth, predeceased her two and a half years ago.

    The funeral service, which was private at the home, was held on Monday afternoon, with public service in St. James' Lutheran Church. Rev, H. R. Mosig, New Hamburg, officiated. The remains were laid to rest in Fairmount Cemetery.

    A former Twin City resident, Gordon Fiddler, 61, of Detroit, died Monday, at his home after a heart seizure. Born April 3, 1899, in Kitchener, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Fiddler. He moved to Detroit, almost 46 years ago and worked for the U.S. Rubber Company. He was a member of the Lutheran church. Survivors include his wife, the former Luella Dinsley whom be married in Detroit; one son, Jack of Detroit; two brothers, Carl and Fred of Kitchener; five sisters, Mrs. Fred Lake of Cardington, Ohio, Mrs. Raymond Hintz, Mrs Clarence Keeling, Mrs. Morris Slauenwhlte, Mrs. Randolph Dunbrook, all of Kitchener and two grandchildren. The funeral will he conducted, Thursday, in Detroit.

    Kraehling, Katherine May - Passed away, peacefully, at St. Mary's General Hospital, on Wednesday, February 21, 2001, age 89 years. Mrs. Kraehling was a resident of RR 1, St. Agatha, Ont. Beloved wife of the late Elmore Kraehling, who predeceased her on October 14, 1989. Loving and dear mother of Marilyn of St. Agatha, Sheila and her husband Doug Gowing of RR 1, Monkton and Robert Kraehling and his wife Linda of St. Agatha; dear grandmother of Sherry Beverly and her husband Fred, Troy, Todd and Charlene Gowing, Janet Kraehling and her fiancé Mike, Jason Kraehling and his wife Rachael, Laura Boronka and her husband Johnny and Amy Kraehling; great-grandmother of Elizabeth and Daniel. Katherine is survived by a sister, Marjorie Hartlieb of Belgrave and a sister-in-law, Margaret Heidlinger of Kitchener. Predeceased by her parents, William and Mary (nee Fiddler) Heidlinger; a sister, Elizabeth McDermott and two brothers, Albert and Victor. Katherine was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Agatha and past organist for 58 years as well as a charter member of the ELW. She also enjoyed playing cards, knitting and crocheting. Katherine's family will receive friends and relatives at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Philipsburg on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 2 pm, with Rev. Donald Stewart officiating. A spring interment will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, St. Agatha.

She was born 88 years ago in Baden, a daughter of the late William and Maria (Fiddler) Heidlinger. Marjorie was formerly of the New Hamburg area. She had been a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Baden and had been an exhibitor at numerous area fairs with her knitting and rug hooking. Marjorie was predeceased by her first husband, Titus N. Roth in 1953 and her second husband, Harold Hartleib in 1977. Loving mother of Marietta and Verlus Gingerich of New Hamburg, Ross and Glenda Roth of RR 1, New Hamburg, Christine and Gerald Beck and Marjorie (Kitty) Hartleib all at home. Ever remembered by 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law of Margaret Heidlinger of Kitchener and Kathy Fierling of Shakespeare. Also remembered by Cathy Book of Kitchener, the Roth family, and the Hartleib family. Predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Ann Faessler in 1978; her brothers and sisters, Harry Fiddler, Katherine and Elmore Kraehling, Albert Heidlinger, Victor Heidlinger, Elizabeth and Harold McDermott. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 1: 30 p.m. until the time of service at 2: 30 p.m. Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Town and Country Homemakers or Seaforth Hospital.
