Nafziger.- Peter, son of the late John and Mattie (Gerber) Nafziger, was born at Brunner, Ont., May 13, 1886; died at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, May 3, 1969; aged 82 y. 11 m. 20 d. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Christina Jantzi, and infant daughter, his second wife, the former Elizabeth Jutzi, and 4 brothers. Surviving are 2 sons (Roy and John), 2 daughters (Vera-Mrs. Norman Helmuth and Dora-Mrs. Lorne Wagler), one brother (Samuel), and one sister (Mrs. Joseph Erb). He was ordained deacon of the Steinman-St. Agatha congregations in 1925. In 1938, he was ordained to the ministry and served the St. Agatha congregation until his retirement. Funeral services were held at the St. Agatha Church, May 6, with Orland Gingerich, Gerald Schwartzentruber, and Henry Yantzi officiating.

Rev. Peter Nafziger

Rev. Peter Nafziger, RR2 Baden, died Saturday in the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital.

He was born in Brunner and moved to the Baden area in 1912. He was a farmer. He was ordained as a Mennonite minister in 1925 and retired in 1965. His first wife, the former Christina Jantzi and his second wife, the former Elizabeth Jutzi both died.

Surviving are two sons, Roy and John, both of Baden; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Vera) Helmuth, Baden; Mrs. Lorne (Dora) Wagler, RR 1 Shakespeare; one brother, Samuel, Vulcan, Alberta; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Erb, Wellesley; 12 grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday at the St. Agatha Mennonite Church, with burial in the church cemetery,

The Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Nithview Community, New Hamburg.
Vera was born 97 years ago, a daughter to the late Peter and Elizabeth Nafziger (Jutzi). Vera was a member of the St. Agatha Mennonite Church.

Reunited with her husband Norman Helmuth who predeceased her April 3, 2004. Loving mother of Paul Helmuth, Joan & Eric Yoder, Peter & Lisa Helmuth, Dennis & Lovetta Helmuth, Faith & Randy Haffner. Sadly missed by grandchildren Anthony & Christine Helmuth, Carla Helmuth, Matthew & Amy Yoder, Tim & Shauna Yoder, Melanie Schmidt and Kevin Garnett, Dennison & Christine Helmuth, Tyler Helmuth, Tim Helmuth & Marissa Grizenko, Kyle & Robin Haffner, Kara & David Onofrio and Kasey & Christopher Lacroix as well as by 10 great-grandchildren. ROY NAFZIGER Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 9, 2008. Roy was born 90 years ago on March 27, 1918 in Wilmot township, the son of the late Peter and Christina (Jantzi) Nafziger.

Beloved husband of Luella (Erb) Nafziger for 61 years. Dear father of Sheryl of Kitchener and Gail of Calgary, Alberta. Special uncle to Wendy O'Brien Ewara and her husband Ewara Monday Ewara and their children Emmanuel, Eyo and Emelia (Eme). Survived by two sisters, Vera Helmuth and Dora Wagler both of New Hamburg; sister-in-law, Edna O'Brien and her husband Gerald of Waterloo; and brother-in-law, Wilfred Erb and his wife Rita of Collingwood. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Roy was a lifetime member of St. Agatha Mennonite Church in Baden.

Predeceased by his parents; a sister in infancy; step-mother, Elizabeth (Jutzi) Nafziger; brother, John Nafziger and his wife Mildred; brothers- in-law, Lorne Wagler, Norman Helmuth, Clayton Erb and his wife Marjorie, Melvin Erb and his wife Edith, Vernon Erb, and Ray Erb and his wife Lucy.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Roy's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Snyder officiating. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. A private family interment will take place at St. Agatha Mennonite Church prior to the service. Sincere appreciation to Dr. Deen, Dr. Keleher, CCAC nurses and Pastor Doug Snyder for your home visits and care. Also special thanks to Dr. McFarlane for your care.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Lisaard House, Cambridge.

Peter was born 63 years ago in Kitchener, a son of the late Norman and Vera (Nafziger) Helmuth.

Peter will be forever remembered by his loving wife Lisa (Gregory) Helmuth whom he married on September 24, 2011. Dear brother of Paul Helmuth, Joan & Eric Yoder, Dennis & Lovetta Helmuth, Faith & Randy Haffner and brother in law to Cathy & Ron Hughes.
