    Obituary of Joan Marie Foell

Passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Woodrow (2005). Loving mother to MaryAnn Cargo, Christine McMillan, Judy Blackman, Suzanne White and Carol (James) Tallevi. Cherished grandmother of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joan was the much loved sister to Margaret (the late Bill) Kinslow, Daniel (the late Joanne) Powers, the late Ted (Joan) Powers and the late Anne (the late Jim) Tompkins. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Gladys Powers.

Joan was born on July 14, 1929 in Waterloo, Ontario. She loved gardening, taking care of her houseplants and taking trips to the garden centre. She was known for being a bit of a night owl, for loving a good movie, and for appreciating a good pun. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading medical books, and completing crossword puzzles and jumbles. Joan made the absolute best brownies and chocolate chip cookies! She was a woman of faith, serving as a longtime parishioner at St. Patrick's Church and as a member of the Catholic Women's League. Above all else, Joan will be remembered for her love of her family.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Lynn for her unwavering support over the last five and a half years and to Joan's respite worker Sandy for her care the last couple of years. Also, special thanks to the nurses at St. Elizabeth.

In keeping with Joan's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Niagara Falls at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church.
