Mrs. Lucinda Fries

Mrs. Lucinda Fries, 83, of 27 Whitney Place, died Tuesday in K-W Hospital after a lingering illness.

Born Jan. 10, 1873, in Woolwich Township, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Conrad and the former Elizabeth Christman. She came to Kitchener 26 years ago.

A member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, she was also a member of the Happy Hours Club and belonged to several sewing clubs for many years.

Her husband, Michael Fries, predeceased her Dec. 31, 1932. Her marriage to Mr. Fries took place in Elmira Jan. 10, 1892.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Hilda) Bruder and Mrs. Harold (Delphine) McCarley, both of Kitchener; four brothers, Jacob, Henry, Emmanuel and Fred Conrad, all of Elmira; three sisters, Mrs. William Witzel of Los Angeles. Mrs. Olga Class of Waterloo and Mrs. Bertha Dunham of Buffalo. Four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home until Thursday at 12: 30 noon when removal will be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church for a memorial service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Elmira Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Dr. John Schmieder will officiate.

Elmira - Jacob Conrad of Elmira died today at the Martin Rest Home here. He was 92.

Mr. Conrad was born in Woolwich Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Conrad. He was a resident of this district all his life and a member of St. James' Lutheran Church. His wife, the former Priscilla Strome, predeceased him.

Surviving are two brothers, Henry and Emanuel, both of Elmira, and one sister, Mrs. George Class of Waterloo.

The body will be at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until noon Friday when removal will be made to St. James' Lutheran Church for service at 2 pm. Interment will be in St. James' Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rev. H.W. Baetz will officiate.

Funeral services have been conducted for Elizabeth Witzel of 13835 Gilmore St., Van Nuys.

Mrs. Witzel died Thursday at the age of 84 and the funeral services were held Saturday at Pierce Brothers South Cities.
Survivors Include her husband William and a niece Mrs. Grant Bruder.

Interment was in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pierce Brothers Van Nuys was in charge of arrangements.

ELMIRA. Nov. 24 - Mrs. Jacob Fries of Elmira died at 7 a.m. today at her residence, 23 Queen St. following a lengthy illness. She was 63? Years old.

Formerly Matilda Conrad, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Conrad of Elmira, she was born in October, 1879. She was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church and an active member of the Ladies' Aid Society. She married in Elmira on May 15, 1900.

Surviving are her husband, four sons, Clayton of Waterloo, Frederick of Bridgeport, Gordon of Kitchener and Ralph of Elmira; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Margaret) Bossence of Woodstock and Mrs. George (Desma) Lewis of Kitchener; 23 grandchildren; four brothers, Jacob, Fred, Henry and Emmanuel of Elmira; and five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Bertha) Dunham of Elmira, Mrs. Peter (Katherine) Becker of Waterloo, Mrs. Michael (Lucinda) Fries of Waterloo, Mrs. George (Olga) Class of Waterloo and Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Witzel of Los Angeles, Calif. Elmira - Clement Conrad, 60, of RR 3, Elmira, died suddenly Thursday of a heart attack at the Albert Seiling farms where he had been employed for the past 22 years.

Born in Bridgeport May 25, 1903, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Conrad. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Elmira.

Surviving are his wife the former Alice Reist to whom he was married Nov. 18, 1933, in Kitchener; three sons, David, Lester and Murray, all of Elmira; two daughters, Mrs. Lavern (June) Beggs of Elmira and Gloria Conrad of Winnipeg and two grandchildren.

The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor where the service will be conducted in the Chapel Saturday at 2:30 pm. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. H.W. Baetz will officiate.

Loving mother of Peggy Slotograaf (Jack) of Goderich, Jan Meyer (Wayne "Tubby") of Kitchener, Larry (Debbie) of Longlac, Ont. and Michael of Goderich. Cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Bernice Pienta (Stan) of Sauble Beach and Ruth Ann Werth (Bill) of Waterloo; also survived by a special sister-in-law, Jean Fries of Waterloo. Predeceased by a son, Timothy; a daughter, Carol Meir and by a brother, Claude Fries. Friends are invited to share their memories of Grace with her family at the Edward R. Our wonderful mother, Elaine Geffros, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the age of 93.

Beloved wife of the late Bud Geffros (2011). Elaine's love of life and devotion to her family will be greatly missed by her children, Dianne McGuire (Frank), Yvonne (Bonnie) Riehl (Bob deceased), and Brian Geffros (Elizabeth). She will be fondly remembered by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the many friends who became part of her family. Daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Fries (Goodwin). Dear sister of Earl (Jackie), Ross (Carla), Doug (late Shirley), Gary (late Lorraine) and the late Murray (May), Wilbert, Joyce (Ron), Robert, Butch (Shirley), and Phyllis Geiger (Arlen). Elaine is also survived by her sisters-in-law Shirley Fries and Molly Fries.

A private family visitation and funeral service will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo with interment following at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.

FRIES, Wilbert "Wib" Passed away, surrounded by family at St. Mary's Hospital on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the age of 84. Born October 6, 1930, son of Frederick and Margaret Fries in Rosendale, ON. Dear husband of Shirley Fries (nee Bisch). Loving father of Linda (Don) Ripley, Steven (Karen) Fries, and Janice (Stuart) Hurst. Proud grandfather of Luke (Tammy) and Christopher (Nina) Ripley, Emma and Ian Hurst, Ryan and Sarah Fries and great-grand- father of Benjamin, Matthew and Jordan Ripley. Brother of Elaine Geffros, Phyllis Geiger, Joyce Hutchings, Earl (Jackie) Fries, Ross (Carla) Fries, Doug Fries, and Gary Fries. Brother-in-law of Molly Fries. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Harold, Robert and Murray and daughter Sharon, in infancy. Before retirement in 1995, Wib was employed by Koch Transport Ltd. for 37 years and retired as Operations Manager. He was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church. Wib was a long time member of Waterloo Masonic Lodge #539 and served as Master of the Lodge in 1981. He was elected as D.D.G.M. of Waterloo District for 1997-1998. He was also a member of Mocha Shriners and served as President of Waterloo County Shrine Club in 1989, a member of Moore Sovereign Consistory, Hamilton and also a long time member of Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club and served as President for 10 years. Wib's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Beloved wife of the late Bill Salzman (2007). Loving mother of Tracy, Shawna, Chris, and her adopted daughter Dani Pigeau (Sharon Davies). Cherished grandmother of Logan (John), DJ (Harmoni), Eric (Kelsi), and Alex (Megan). Great-grandmother of Chloe, Paisley, Gwen, Atlas, and baby boy Salzman on the way. Remembered by her brother Jim (Jill) Payne, her niece Sonya White and her family.
