    SNYDER, Joseph Edward

    Peacefully, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday, November 21, 2000, age 92 years. Mr. Snyder was a direct descendant of Joseph Schneider, one of the original settlers of Kitchener (Schneider Haus). He had been past Canadian Vice President of R. S. Bacon Veneer Lumber Co., of Chicago and was an inspector for the Liquor License Board of Ontario. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor Marie Snyder (nee Kraemer). Loving father of Sharon Brown of Barrie, Judy and her husband Ron Potter of London, Robert and his wife Mary of Waterloo and David and his wife Diane of Strathroy. Sadly missed by grandchildren, Debbie, Eric, Chris, Tim, Robin, Kimberly and Kelly and seven great-grandchildren. Survived by a sister, Miriam Sokvitne of Kitchener. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Priscilla; brother, Homer and sister, Martha Maier. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home Chapel, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, Nov. 24, 2000 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Bill Lamont officiating.

    Notes:

    SOKVITNE, Miriam Helen (nee Snyder) Passed away peacefully on July 19, 2012 at Winston Park Retirement Home in her 100th year. Predeceased by her husband Lars (Lee) Sokvitne (1987). Also predeceased by her parents Joseph and Priscilla Snyder, her brothers Joseph Edward Snyder and David Homer Snyder and by her sister Martha Maier. Miriam is survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Miriam was a faithful and active member of Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she trained at St. Mary's and became a public health nurse with the Waterloo County School Board, she was a driving force behind the creation of the Joseph Schneider Haus, a Past-President of the Waterloo Historical Society and was an active historical preservationist and environmentalist. Visitation will be held at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 137 Queen St. S., Kitchener on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 10: 00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11: 00 a.m. Interment at First Mennonite Cemetery. In kindness, memorial donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or Lutheran World Relief would be appreciated by the family.
