    Notes:

SNYDER, Marilyn Joy (nee Shantz) 1944 - 2015 After bravely surviving breast cancer for over 13 years, Marilyn Snyder passed away peacefully on May 31, 2015 with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Don W. Snyder for nearly 49 years, dearest mother of eldest son Jeffrey Todd Snyder (Kelli Colleen Callaghan) and was most sadly predeceased by son Scott Donald (Lee Randall) in August 2009. Lee is now again happily married to Etienne Paquin. Grandma Marilyn was a loving grandmother to Aidan and Darcy Snyder, Kate Randall Snyder and Cedric and Maelie Paquin. She is also survived by her brother Ross Shantz (Sandra), and sisters Sandra Schiedel (John) and Margaret Shantz and by Don's sisters Marilyn Snyder (Pete), June White (Michael) and brother Richard (Cathy). Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Erma (Martin) and Ward Shantz. All who knew this amazing woman would agree she was aptly named for she brought joy wherever she went. After graduating from Stratford Teacher's College and Wilfrid Laurier University, she excelled as a primary school teacher in several southern Ontario cities. Her husband Don's banking career however, took them to many parts of Canada and brought a premature ending to her teaching career. Managing their household, raising Jeff and Scott, being actively involved in community and social activities along with her gregarious nature led to long lasting friendships across this great land. While family was always first and foremost, she also enjoyed frequent travel, choir singing, skiing, sewing and crafts, oil painting, bridge, fitness and exercise, cooking, reading and perhaps next to family, the exhilaration and frustration of golf. Nothing brought her greater joy though than spending time with her family, especially around a table laden with her culinary delights. People always comment on how Marilyn was such an outstanding role model, whether it came from family, friends or mere acquaintances. She will be deeply missed! On Saturday, June 13, 2015 a visitation (2 p.m.), a funeral service (3 p.m.) and a reception (4 p.m.) will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 2 Mulkins St. at Main, in Stittsville (Ottawa), Ontario. On Saturday, June 20, 2015, a private burial will be held at 2 p.m. An informal reception for family and friends will follow at Erb Street Mennonite Church, 131 Erb Street West, Waterloo from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a brief tribute from Don at 4 p.m.
