    Notes:

Passing of Mrs. Ross - On Tuesday morning, January 11th, 1927, Mrs. Thomas Ross passed to her rest at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mathews, Fergus. Mrs. Ross - nee Mary Saunders - was born in the village of Ayr, in the residence now occupied by Mr. William Nicoll, sixty years ago. Early in life she removed to Elora where she found a home, as one of the family, with Mr. and Mrs. James Gladstone. In the nineties of the by-gone century, she was united in marriage with Thomas Ross, a former resident of Ayr. Shortly after their marriage, they removed to Brantford where they built up an ideal home and contributed a living, worthy, practical example of Christian ethics to the welfare of Canadian citizenship. Mrs. Ross was a woman of sterling Christian character, lovely and genial in disposition, and a true and faithful follower of her Lord and Master, Whose she is and Whom she served. A mother in Israel whose thoroughly consecrated life calls forth-so beautifully expressed by her pastor-the highest encomiums and tributes of respect and honor her friends can pay to her memory-the memory of a kind and loving mother and friend, possessed by the Divine, now gone Home through the Gates of Pearl, with an abundant entrance into the City of The King of Glory. Mrs. Ross leaves to mourn their loss a daughter, Mrs. Mathews, of Fergus, two sons, Anderson and Moore, and a sister, Isabell, all of Brantford. Mrs. Ross' husband predeceased her thirteen years ago. The funeral of Mrs. Ross took place on Thursday, January 13th, from Fergus, interment being made in Ayr Cemetery. Service was held at her late residence in Fergus, and also at the United Church, Ayr, the latter service being conducted by decedent's pastor, Rev. Mr. McKinnon of Brantford, assisted by Rev. J. W. Currie of Ayr. A duet, "Peace, Perfect Peace," was beautifully rendered by Misses J. Gourlay and M. Lillico, accompanied by Mrs. Swan. Pallbearers were: Messrs. McFarland, Thomson and Dowling, members of Session, Brantford; and G. I. Black, D. R. Lillico and J. L. Black of Ayr.
