EUGENE JOHN ECKENSVILLER 1918-2005
Passed away, at Forest Heights Long Term Care Centre, on Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the age of 87 years.
Born January 5, 1918 in Trout Creek, Ontario, Eugene was the beloved husband of Rita (nee Young) for 63 years. Loving father of Douglas (Barbara) Eckensviller, Judi (Richard) Lankowski and Terry (Joan) Eckensviller; dear Papa of Leslie and Steven Eckensviller, Susan Bezouska, Gary (Gayle) Lankowski, Michael Lankowski and Tim and Cody Eckensviller. Also loved by two great-grandchildren, Julia Bezouska and Jade Lankowski. Survived by his brother, Bill and his sisters, Louisa Fawcett and Rita and Georgina Eckensviller.
Predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Caroline (nee Weiler) Eckensviller; his brothers, Herman, Jim, Lawrence and Angus; and his sisters, Isabella Hummel, Bernadette Mercier, Henrietta O'Shaughnessy and Alma Mercier.
Gene retired from Reinhardt Pluming in 1983. Family and friends will always remember his love of playing cards and his sense of humour. He was a member of St. Louis RC Church, Waterloo.
Friends are invited to meet with Eugene's family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Friday, April 29, 2005 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home this evening (Friday) at 8:45 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen Street East, Waterloo on Saturday, April 30 at 10 am, with the Rev. Ray Reitzel, CR as celebrant. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
Donations may be made directly to the Canadian Red Cross Society or a charity of one's choice as expressions of sympathy and can be arranged by calling the Edward R. Good Funeral Home.
