Of 1055 Fountain St. N., Cambridge, on Sunday, March 24, 1991, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 88th year. Frederick Schmiedendorf, beloved husband of the late Bertha Grumble (1981). Dear father of Robert, George, David, Dorothy (Mrs. George Poore), all of Cambridge, Evelyn (Mrs. Albert England) of Whitby and Grace (Mrs. John England) of Scarborough. Lovingly remembered by one brother, John of Alberta; 28 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Predeceased by one son, Earl; one brother and six sisters. Mr. Schmiedendorf was born in Cambridge (P) and lived there all his life. He was a retiree of the Grand River Railway. A private family funeral service was held at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Monday, March 25, 1991 (today). Cremation followed.

SCHMIEDENDORF, Robert John 1930 - 2016 Bob was the devoted husband of Jeanette (Furtney) Schmiedendorf for 63 years. Special father of Nancy Brown (Phil), Catherine Aultman (Clem), Sharon Douthwaite (Roger), Laura Schmiedendorf (John Johnson) and Lisa Steffan (Frank) all of the Cambridge area and Paul Schmiedendorf (Coleen) of New Brunswick. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grand- children and by his brother George Schmiedendorf. Predeceased by his parents Frederick Schmiedendorf and Bertha Grumble, siblings Evelyn England (Albert), Grace England (John), Earl Schmiedendorf, Dorothy Poore (George) and David Schmiedendorf (Patty). Bob had requested that he be cremated. Private family gathering will be held at a later date (brown.na@live.ca). The family wishes to give a special thank-you to the staff of 5th Floor of Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their excellent care of Bob during his 4 day stay there. We appreciate also the compassion, help and care of Corbett Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

POORE, Dorothy Jean (nee Schmiedendorf) - After a lengthy illness at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the age of 65 years. Beloved wife of George Poore. Cherished mother of Myrtle Arruda (Ernie), Leah Jakobsen (Soren), Harold Poore, Georgina Broeckel (Herb MacDonald), Kevin Poore (Lynn), Thomas Poore (Jane), Faith Dean (John), Deborah Poore-Norn (Clint), step-children, Martha Beauchamp (Mike), the late John Poore (Margaret), Kenneth Poore (Francis), and Carol Goodland (Dave). Dorothy is survived by 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters George, Grace, Robert and Evelyn. Predeceased by brothers David and Earl and grandson, Richard. She will be fondly remembered by lifelong friends Barbara Broadhaecker and Rita Morin. At Dorothy's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, on Friday, September 1, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Private family service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brain Injury Association of Waterloo Wellington may be made by calling the funeral home at 519-653-3251.
