    Mrs. Samuel Shantz

    PRESTON - Mrs. Annie Shantz, 407 Queen SL, Preston, died Sunday at South Waterloo Hospital, Galt. She was 85. Mrs. Shantz was the former Annie Bowman and was born in Wilmot Township. She had lived in Doon, Preston and in Toronto for 39 years returning to Preston in 1940. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church. She was predeceased by her husband. Surviving are three sons, Robert, Preston; Arnold, Clarksburg, and Douglas, Montreal; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Lois) Schrumm and Mrs. Desmond (Marjorie) Singleton, Preston; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home where service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Preston cemetery.

    SHANTZ, Robin R.

    Of 522 West-minster Drive S., Cambridge, on Thursday, June 22, 1989, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband of Estella Irvine; dear father of Richard of Vancouver, Ronald of Toronto and Malcolm of London, Ont. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren; one brother, Douglas of Montreal and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Schrumm and Marjorie, Mrs. Desmond Singleton, both of Cambridge. Mr. Shantz was born in Toronto and came to Cambridge (P) in 1945. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church, the Preston Masonic Lodge, Cambridge Shrine Club, Preston Chapter of R.A.M. and the Royal Canadian Legion, Preston Branch No. 126. He served with the RCAF in the Second World War and was a former member of the Preston Board of Education and a Councilman of the first Cambridge Council. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Friday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 24, 1989. Interment Parklawn cemetery.

    Of 3947 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough, Ont., at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Desmond Singleton, 1227 Fairview Rd., Cambridge, on Saturday, Sept. 5, 1981. Beloved husband of the late Ethel Fowler; dear father of Rev. Gerald Shantz of St. Catharines and Arnold of Kitchener, in his 67th year. Also survived by two brothers, Robin of Cambridge and Douglas of Ottawa, and two sisters, Lois (Mrs. Russell Schrumm) and Marjorie (Mrs. Desmond Singelton), both of Cambridge, and three grandchildren. Mr. Shantz was born in Toronto and was a resident of Cambridge for a number of years, moving back to Toronto one year ago. Retired from Hostess, Cambridge. A veteran of the Second World War. Funeral services were held today, Tuesday at 2 p.m., in St. John's Anglican Church, Elora. Interment in Parklawn cemetery. Arrangements by the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home.

    SCHRUMM, Lois Jean

    It is with great sadness, the family of Lois Jean (Shantz) Schrumm announces her passing at home on November 16, 2011. Born in Toronto June 20, 1921, she moved to Preston, where she met and married Russell (Bummer) Schrumm (deceased 1985). Predeceased by her brothers Robin, Arnold and Douglas and one sister Marjorie Singleton. Left to mourn are her sons Jim (Christine) of B.C. and their children, Carmen (Garth) Letcher and Lisa (Troy) Gross. Also Ted (Judy) of Preston and their children, Matthew (Andrea) and Elizabeth (Terry) Scotland. AIso five great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, who she was happy to visit with at her 90th birthday celebration, in June of this year. Lois was a long time employee of Union Gas. She also loved travelling with her husband and spent many enjoyable years at their trailer in Bayfield, Ont. At Lois's request there will be a private family service and no visitation
