    PRESTON, James Laing Grobe of 338 Laurel St., died today, at South Waterloo Hospital. He was 77. Born in Preston, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grobe and had been a resident of the town all his life. He worked 50 years for George Pattinson Co. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. His wife, the former Ida Brethauer predeceased him. Surviving are one son, George, RR 2, Breslau; one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Evelyn) Schroeder, Preston; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, after 2 p.m., Wednesday, where the funeral and committal services will be conducted Thursday, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Preston cemetery.

    Peacefully, at K-W Hospital. 77 years of age. A member of St. Teresa's RC Church. He was the co-founder and president of Grobe Nursery until his retirement in 1980. Father of Peter Grobe and his wife Leona of Kitchener and Paul Grobe and his wife Maryanne of RR 1, Breslau; brother of Evelyn Schroeder and her husband Harry of Cambridge. Grandfather to Perry, Patrick and Gina Grobe, William and Brenda Snider, Jo-Anne and Michael Grobe. Great-grandfather to Sheldon Grobe and Kevin Snider. Dear friend of Peggy (Miller) Dargel-Underwood. He was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve (nee Huber) in May of 1980. Visitation at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel, 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be received on Tuesday at 8-p.m. at the funeral home. On Wednesday, prayers will be said at the funeral home chapel at 9,30 a.m., after which transfer will be made to St. Teresa's RC Church for a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Father Peter Watters officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.

    GROBE, Paul John

    1941 - 2017. Passed away after a courageous three year battle with leukemia, at Grand River Hospital, in Kitchener, on Friday, February 17, 2017, at the age of 75. Loving husband and best friend of Maryanne (nee Isley), for almost 54 years. Sadly missed by his children, William Grobe and Tracy Anne Tait, Brenda, and Steve Snider, Joanne, Michael and Lindsay Frankland-Grobe. Grandchildren, Kevin and Jocelyn Jacob, Liam and Joshua. Survived by his brother, Peter Grobe. Also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Linda Isley and John and Jackie Isley. Predeceased by his parents, George and Genevieve Grobe ( nee ) Huber. Up until his retirement Paul was a co-owner of Grobe Nursery, which he joined in 1964. He was also a founding member of the Waterloo Chapter of Landscape Ontario. He was a charter member of the Maryhill Knights of Columbus. Friends are invited to share their memories of Paul with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Parish Prayers will be offered at 3: 45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial, will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church 240 Hemlock Street, Waterloo. Reception in the Church Hall to follow. Interment at Memory Gardens Breslau at a later date.
