HALBERSTADT, Harry Louis Of Pineview Avenue, Cambridge, on Friday, December4, 1998, at his residence, in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Jessie Barnett (1997). Dear father of Charles and his wife Isabel of Scarborough, Donald and his wife Peggy of Brantford and Jean Peltier and her husband Joseph of Michigan. Lovingly remembered by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Charles andRosa Halberstadt; two brothers, Emil and Edward and three sisters, Florence Hagerman, Eva Ready and AlmaWalker. Mr. Halberstadt was born in Preston and was alifelong resident of the area. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, a retired engineer with the Grand River Railroad, chairman of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainsmen for 20 years, a former Alderman for 10 years for the Town of Preston and a former Mayor of the Town of Preston from 1964-1970. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 810 King St. E., Cambridge, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Bruce Bartleman officiating. Interment in Preston Cemetery, Cambridge.
