    C. T. Dahmer dies; Twin City Chauffeur

    Charles Theodore (Charlie) Dahmer, one of the few chauffeurs who used to work in the Twin Cities, died Tuesday at his residene, 247 Franklin St. N. following a brief illness. He was 89. Mr. Dahmer, who lived at 250 Frederick St., Kitchener, operated a garage on Hall's Lane in Kitchener, for many years and was a chauffeur for Kitchener leather industrialist George C. H. Lang for 11 years. While driving for the Lang family, Mr. Dahmer also transported such visiting dignitaries as Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Prime Minister Mackenzie King and Sir Robert Borden. He was the first chauffeur in the Twin Cities to have a proper uniform. Mr. Dahmer once estimated that he drove about 40,000 miles a year for the Langs. He retired in 1958. His wife, Laura, died two years ago. Among survivors are two daughters and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted Friday.
