McQUEEN, Marjorie Irene (Marj - Queenie)

Passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. She was an only child, born in Galt, Ontario, on August 2nd, 1918, to William and Cornelia (Eitel) McQueen. Marj went to Manchester School and GCI. After leaving school, she worked at the Galt Hospital as a ward and aid, and then moved to Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, where she graduated as a nurse in 1940 and then a Registered Nurse in 1941. She remained at KW Hospital until 1983, working several different positions, in several different areas of the hospital, over the years. Since 1922, Barrett Ave. in Cambridge, was always home for Marj. She was a member of Knox's Galt Presbyterian Church for over 85 years, and participated in the choir and several church organizations. Marj always had a dog and recently, a cat. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, and embroidering. Because of arthritis and ill health, Marj moved to Village of Winston Park Retirement Home, in Kitchener in August of 2007. A visitation was held on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Barthel Funeral Home, from 1: 00 p.m. to 2: 00 p.m., with a Funeral Service, at 2: 00 p.m., in the Funeral Home's chapel.
