PRESTON, James Laing Grobe of 338 Laurel St., died today, at South Waterloo Hospital. He was 77. Born in Preston, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grobe and had been a resident of the town all his life. He worked 50 years for George Pattinson Co. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. His wife, the former Ida Brethauer predeceased him. Surviving are one son, George, RR 2, Breslau; one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Evelyn) Schroeder, Preston; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, after 2 p.m., Wednesday, where the funeral and committal services will be conducted Thursday, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Preston cemetery.

BOONVILLE - Mrs. Winifred W. Dawe, 72. of 129 Erwin street, widow of Albert J. Dawe, died Tuesday in the Sunset Nursing home.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Trainor funeral home. Burial will be in Boonville cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. June Ballard, with whom she resided, and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Thayer, both of Boonville; two sons,
Robert, Maiden Bridge, and Albert, Pontiac, Mich. and a brother, James, of Preston, Ont.

She was born in Preston, Ont., daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Eagle Grobe. Her younger life was spent in Ontario. She was married there to Mr. Dawe in 19189. They lived in Montreal until 1952, when they moved to Baldwinsville, They had lived in Boonville since 1957. Mr. Dawe died in 19589.

Mrs. Dawe was of the Methodist faith.

Of 623 Sherring St., Cambridge, on Sunday, Nov. 28, 1989, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Marie Kimpel; dear father of Pauline (Mrs. Victor Stortz) of Cambridge. Lovingly remembered by two grandchildren, Christopher and Judith Ann; five brothers, Norman, Herman, Harold and Gerald, all of Cambridge and Arthur of Waterloo; three sisters, Mae (Mrs. George Schnarr) and Marjorie (Mrs. John Becker), both of Kitchener and Helen (Mrs. Roy Lidstone) of Cambridge. Predeceased by two brothers, Jim and Albert and one sister, Ruth. Mr. Whitelaw was born in Cambridge (Preston) and lived there all his life. He was a retired foreman of Spring Print of Brantford and a volunteer fireman in Cambridge (Preston) for 18 years. Dear friend of Peggy (Miller) Dargel-Underwood. He was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve (nee Huber) in May of 1980. GROBE, Paul John

1941 - 2017. Passed away after a courageous three year battle with leukemia, at Grand River Hospital, in Kitchener, on Friday, February 17, 2017, at the age of 75. Loving husband and best friend of Maryanne (nee Isley), for almost 54 years. Sadly missed by his children, William Grobe and Tracy Anne Tait, Brenda, and Steve Snider, Joanne, Michael and Lindsay Frankland-Grobe. Grandchildren, Kevin and Jocelyn Jacob, Liam and Joshua. Survived by his brother, Peter Grobe. Also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Linda Isley and John and Jackie Isley. Predeceased by his parents, George and Genevieve Grobe ( nee ) Huber. Up until his retirement Paul was a co-owner of Grobe Nursery, which he joined in 1964. He was also a founding member of the Waterloo Chapter of Landscape Ontario. He was a charter member of the Maryhill Knights of Columbus.
