Gingrich - the 22d of November in Woolwich Twp., Waterloo Co., Ontario, after a long illness of cancer, Sister Susanna Brubacher, wife of Moses Gingrich, entered peacefully into rest. She was buried at North Woolwich meeting house, near Elmira. Services by Paul Martin and Joseph Gingrich. Text, John 5: 29 and Psalm 39: 4-11. A very large number of friends and relatives assembled to show their respects for the departed sister and to sympathize with the bereft husband and family. She leaves a husband and four children, two sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of a dear one, but not without hope. She was a devoted wife and mother, a shining light in the Church. She bore her suffering with Christian patience and was fully resigned to the will of God and desired to go home and be at rest^.

Martin, Elizabeth, daughter of the late Moses and Susannah (Brubacher) Gingrich, was born May 13, 1870, in Woolwich Twp., Ont.; died at the K & W Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., following a brief illness, July 17, 1959; aged 89 y. 2 m. 4 d. On Nov. 1, 1891, she was married to Enoch B. Martin, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons (Norman, Elmira; and Mose, Goderich), 3 daughters (Selina-Mrs. Mike Good, Acadia Valley, Alta.; Lucinda, Kitchener; and Louida-Mrs. Gilber Snider, Waterloo), 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Elmira Church. The last year she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Snider, at Waterloo. Funeral services were conducted by Oliver D. Snider and Howard S. Bauman.

MRS. ENOCH B. MARTIN

Funeral for Mrs. Enoch B. Martin, 89, of RR 1, Waterloo, who died Friday,. July 17, at K-W Hospital, was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in Elmira Mennonite Church.

The body rested at the Dreisinger Funeral Home until Mon day at 1 p.m. Burial was in Elmira Mennonite Cemetery. Rev. Howard F. Bauman and Rev. Over Snider officiated.

Mrs. Martin was the former Elizabeth Gingrich, a daughter of the late Mose Gingrich and Susannah. Brubacher.

She was born near Elmira, May 13, 1870, and lived in the area until 1912 when she moved to Alberta for 22 years. She lived in Elmira until a year ago when she moved to live with her daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Louida) Snider, RR 1, Waterloo

Surviving are her husband to whom she was married 67 years ago; two sons, Norman of Elmira, Mose of Goderich; three daughters Mrs. Snider, Mrs. Milo (Selina) Good of Acadia Valley, Alta.; Miss Lucinda of Kitchener; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Amos Brubacher, 74, of RR 3, Wallenstein, died suddenly New Year's Day. Born in Woolwich Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Brubacher.

Surviving are his wife, the former Susannah Horst; three sons, John and Amos, both of RR 3, Wallenstein, and Tilman at home; and two daughters, Mrs. Anson (Adina) Bauman of RR 1, Bamberg, and Mrs. Joseph (Katie) Metzger of RR 1, St. Jacobs. There are 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are six brothers and two sisters. Two sons and one daughter predeceased him.

The body is at the home where the funeral will be conducted Friday at 9 a.m. Service at South Peel Mennonite Meeting House will be followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Moses Brubacher of RR 1, Waterloo, age 73, died suddenly at his late residence on Tuesday, September 15, 1959. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Brubacher Sr., was born in Woolwich township, July 21, 1886.

Surviving are his wife the former Leavea Frey, three sons, Christian of Wallenstein, Gleason of RR 3, Waterloo, Sidney of RR 1, Waterloo. Two daughters, Mrs. Sidney (Melvina) Weber, R.R 2, West Montrose, Mrs. Moses (Elmeda) Weber RR 3, Elmira, Four brothers, Henry of RR 1 St. Jacobs, Levi of Elmira, Israel of St. Jacobs, Menno of Elmira. Remains at the Dreisinger funeral parlour until Thursday afternoon when removal will be made to the residence for funeral service Friday morning at 8:30 standard time, thence to Conestogo Mennonite Meeting House for further service and burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Friday when removal was made to the home of Cleason Clemmer, St. Jacobs. The funeral was conducted There Saturday followed by further services at the Conestogo Mennonite Meeting House, Three Bridges. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ethel (Mose) Martin of Goderich.Predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Gingrich and Enoch Martin; two brothers and two sisters. She was the last surviving member of her family.Mrs. Snider was an active member of Erb Street Mennonite Church, the WMSC and was involved in many other events in the life of the church. She was a charter member of the Lexington Women's Institute. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Brubacher (nee Heipel) formerly of Kitchener; dearly loved father of Bruce and his wife Norene Brubacher of Kitchener; dear brother of Levi and his wife Seleda Brubacher of RR4, Listowel; Orvie Brubacher of Floradale; Ira Martin and his wife Lena of RR 1, Wingham; dear brother-in-law of Raymond Heipel and his wife Dorothy of Waterloo and Ronald Hammer and his wife Carol of Tavistock. Aden was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener. He served with the Canadian Infantry in Europe during the Second World War. He was wounded in action but recovered from his injuries and returned to active service. After the war, Aden worked as a general labourer at the Lang Tanning Company in Kitchener for a number of years and at numerous other companies in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , this evening (Thursday) 7-9 p.m. and Friday afternoon 2-4 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W. Husband of the late Irla (Bauman) Brubacher (1997). Loving father of Marlene and Paul Shantz of Wallenstein, Ronald Brubacher of RR1 Elora, Carolyn and Lester Martin of RR3, Clifford, Stella Brubacher of RR4 Elmira, Dale and Dorothy Ann Brubacher of RR2 West Montrose. Elmira loses one of its foremost citizens

Don Martin, an Elmira native whose business ventures and volunteer activities shaped everything from this week's maple syrup festival to the very structure of the town, died this week at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener at the age of 79. Perhaps more than any other in the past half-century, Martin was instrumental in shaping development in Elmira. A prominent businessman and philanthropist, his long list of accomplishments was recognized in his induction into the Waterloo County Hall of Fame in 2008. While Martin was always modest about his contributions, there's no denying he has had a major impact on Elmira and the township in the years since being born into a conservative Mennonite family on Apr. 15, 1933.....

DONALD B. MARTIN
1933-2013

Donald B. Martin was raised in a conservative Mennonite family in Woolwich Township. As was common in families in his community, he quit school at age 16 and began working in carpentry and construction.

In his mid-20s he took over the family business, Martin Feed Mills Ltd. , and built it into a significant business and employer in Elmira. Martin was also involved in the creation of more than 30 other businesses including the Elmira Land Development Company, Brox's Olde Town Village and B&L Metals.

Martin held a number of volunteer positions both locally and nationally. He was President of the Elmira Board of Trade in 1965, the year the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival began. He also served on the Elmira High School Board and was a member of the Lions Club for 45 years. He was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow given by Lions Club International Foundation. Some of his most challenging experiences were being involved in search and rescue missions where he volunteered his airplane and piloting expertise. He was also a Mason and Shriner. Martin served nationally as Chairman of the Canadian Feed Manufacturers Association.

He was involved in the creation of many local facilities such as the Lions Sports Park, Kissing Bridge Trail, Lions Woolwich Dam Trail and the Elmira Golf and Country Club. Martin was recognized for his community service with several awards of distinction including being named Woolwich Citizen of the Year in 1992.

MARTIN, Harvey B. Passed away after a brief illness on Friday, January 1, 2016, at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 85 years. Harvey Martin, of RR#1, Elmira, was the beloved husband of the late Minerva (Metzger) Martin (1998). Loved father of Ruth (Allie) Misener of Nova Scotia; Murray (Joyce) of Elmira; James (Susan) of Floradale; and Paul (Janice) of Beachburg. Loving grandfather of Travis (Janet), Matthew (Corrie), Corey (fiancée Leslie), Tom (Steph), Luke (fiancée Orisha), Jeremy, Abby, Jackson, and Jacob; and great-grand-daughter Kya. Dear brother of Rita Brubacher, Elsie (Clarence) Weber, Earl (Alice) Martin, Margaret Freeman, and Laverne (Adele) Martin. Fondly remembered by the Metzger family. Predeceased by his parents Cleason and Elizabeth (Brubacher) Martin, and brothers-in-law Enos Brubacher and Elmer Freeman. Harvey drove truck for Martin Feed Mills for 44 years, 3 million miles, accident free. He was a faithful member of Elmira Mennonite Church. He spent many years volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and went to Haiti twice with FIDA. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Elmira Mennonite Church, 58 Church St. W., Elmira. Interment in Elmira Mennonite Cemetery prior to the service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or Habitat for Humanity. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and other staff in St. Mary's ICU and 3 East Cardiology for their compassionate care.
