    Witmer, Elma, daughter of Gideon and Magdalena (Eby) Bachert, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont. Mar. 11, 1901; died at Kitchener, Ont., Feb. 4, 1982; aged 80 y. On July 20, 1925, she was married to Leslie Witmer, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter (June-Mrs. Lester Martin), one foster son (Arnold Philippian), 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one brother (Albert), and 2 sisters (Nellie and Elsie-Mrs. Wilfred Schmidt). She was a member of Shantz Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 7, in charge of Ed Kauffman and Gerald Schwartzentruber; interment in Shantz Church Cemetery.

    Beloved wife of the late Wilfred Schmitt who predeceased her in 1974. Dear mother of Margaret & (Howard Ellis) of Kitchener, Stewart & (Diannia Schmitt) of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Remembered by her brother Bert Bachert of Seaforth and sisters-in-law Ina Schmitt of St. George and Lena Schmitt of Waterloo. Elsie was predeceased by a son Donald, granddaughter, great-granddaughter.     Obituary of Marjorie Musselman

    Passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the age of 91 years.

    Predeceased by her beloved husband Reuben in 2005 and her son Tom in 2010. Survived by her children, Peter Musselman, Peggy Snyder (James predeceased 1991), John (Kathy) Musselman and daughter-in-law Mary Musselman (Dan Thomas), grandchildren Tanya, Jennifer (Brian), Brad, Joanna (Paul), Matthew (Laurie), Luke, Stephanie, Reuben (Madeline), Rachel (Darcy) and Daniel as well as her great grandchildren Owen, Leah, Cassidy, Katie, Molly, Travis, Kali and Jackson. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Gloria and Jean Bachert and brother-in-law Mannie Oyer. Predeceased by her brothers Ross and Bob Bachert and sister Jeanne Oyer.

    The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of St. Mary's Cardiac Care Unit for the professional and compassionate care provided during Marjorie's illness.

    Friends are invited to share their memories of Marjorie with her family during visitation at Stirling Ave. Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Ave. North, Kitchener on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 2-5 pm and Sunday Sept. 18 from 2 - 3:45 pm. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Church Sanctuary with Pastor Renee Sauder officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Cremation will have taken place and interment at First Mennonite Cemetery will follow at a later date.

    Schmitt, Donald W., was born Feb. 9, 1938, to Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Schmitt, Kitchener, Ont.; passed away suddenly at the K & W Hospital on Jan. 20, 1957; aged 18 y. 11m. 11 d. At the age of ten he accepted Christ as his Saviour and became a member of the Mannheim (Ont.) Mennonite Church, to which he remained faithful to his death. Surviving are his parents, one sister (Margaret), and one brother (Stewart), and a large number of friends, classmates, and relatives. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 24 at the Mannheim Church in charge of Osiah Horst and Howard Good.

    SCHMITT, Stewart Leslie

    Passed away peacefully surrounded by the support, love and comfort of his family on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth. Stewart was born on June 17, 1946 in Kitchener, Ontario, a son of the late Wilfred and Elsie (Bachert) Schmitt.

    Beloved husband and best friend of Diannia (Rickert) Schmitt whom he married on July 9, 1965. Dearly loved father of Lori Otterbein and her husband Mike and Benjamin Schmitt. Loving Papa to Trent and Eve Otterbein. Stewart will be forever remembered by his sister Margaret and husband Howard Ellis, brother-in-law Terry Rickert and wife Jean as well as by his nieces and nephews.

    Stewart is now in the presence of his daughter Lisa Schmitt, grand daughter Willow Otterbein, and brother Donald Schmitt who have all predeceased him and were awaiting his arrival.

    Stewart was a lifetime member of Wilmot Centre Missionary Church, Baden. He was an active participant in the church as Worship Leader. He served as the business administrator, Pastoral Aid and Receptionist at the church for well over 20 years. Stewart was an avid reader and woodworker and especially loved a good game of hockey. You would have often found him at the local games cheering on the Kitchener Rangers. Stewart worked at Knechtels wholesale Grocers and Cressman Meats. Stewart was a trusted and true friend to many.


    Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship and sharing beginning at 11:00 am at Wilmot Centre Missionary Church 2463 Bleams Road, Petersburg on Saturday, March 14, 2020. A private family interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy we ask you would consider making a donation to Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice or to the family for the tombstone which can be arranged through the funeral home (Cheques Accepted).

    TOM MUSSELMAN 1956 2010

    Tom died peacefully at home, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday morning, January 24, 2010.

    Loving husband of Mary (nee Bingeman) for 22 years. Nurturing father of Reuben (friend Madeline), Rachel (friend Michael), and Daniel. Dear son of Marjorie Musselman; brother of Peter Musselman, Peggy Snyder, and John Musselman (Kathy); dear son-in-law of Dora Bingeman; brother-in-law of Fran Bingeman, Pat Pietrek, John Bingeman (Marg), Jim Bingeman (Alenka), Peter Bingeman (Jan), Lisa Yantzi (Steve), and Marshall Bingeman (Kim). Caring uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews.

    Predeceased by his father Reuben Musselman, father-in-law Jonas Bingeman, and brother-in-law James Snyder.

    Tom was an active member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church and carried his faith into all aspects of his life. He spent the last 20 years operating T. Musselman Excavating and delighted in many years of playing baseball and hockey. His greatest joy was Saturdays working with his family on the family farm. Tom has been a faithful and steadfast friend to many and will be greatly missed.

    Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Tom during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, January 26 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, January 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to honour Tom's life and faith will be held at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Ave. N., Kitchener on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Marilyn Rudy-Froese officiating. Interment at Mannheim Mennonite Cemetery. Reception to follow.

    Lisa Ann Marjorie Schmitt

    Lisa was born in Kitchener on May 17, 1966 and passed away at Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice on Friday, December 20, 2019.

    She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Clayton and Marjorie (Rickert) Erb and her paternal grandparents Wilfred and Elsie (Bachert) Schmitt, an uncle Donald Schmitt and a Niece Willow Otterbein. She is deeply missed by her parents Stewart and Diannia (Rickert) Schmitt, her sister Lori Otterbein (Mike), their children Trent and Eve Otterbein and her brother Ben Schmitt as well as Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Born with a congenital heart defect, Lisa never the less lived a good life and wanted everyone to be her friend. The last few months of her life saw a significant decline in her health and we are forever grateful to the staff and nurses at ParaMed (especially Kathy and Cindy) and Waterloo Wellington LHIN (Adrienne, Dr. Tan and Donna) as well as the excellent staff and facilities at the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice. Our special friends Rick, Betty, Jessica, Carol for their concern and care during this time, also our pastors at Wilmot .

    Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship and sharing beginning at 11:00 am at Wilmot Centre Missionary Church 2463 Bleams Road, Petersburg on Saturday, January 4, 2020. A private family interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy we ask you would consider making a donation to Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice which can be arranged through the funeral home (Cheques Accepted).
