    Lichti.--Bro. Christian Lichti was born Sept. 1, 1844, at St. Agatha, Can.; died near Shickley, Nebr., Mar. 31, 1911; aged 66 y. 7 m. He was united in marriage with Nancy Schlegel Dec. 30, 1866. To this union were born 10 children, two of which preceded him to the spirit world. He leaves a sorrowing wife, 4 sons, 4 daughters, 22 grandchildren and 1 sister in Canada. He was a faithful member of the A. M. Church from his youth. On April 3 the remins* were laid to rest at the Salem cemetery. Funeral services by Bro. Joseph Schlegel of Milford, Nebr., in German and Bro. Daniel Lapp of Roseland, Nebr., in English. May God comfort the bereaved ones.

    Lichti. --- Christian S., son of Christian and Nancy (Schlegel) Lichti, was born July 26, 1874 at St. Agatha, Ont.; died at the General Hospital, Geneva, Neb., Sept. 19, 1940, where he spent the last 23 days of his life; aged 66 y. 1 m. 24 d. In his youth he united with the Mennonite Church and remained faithful to the end. On Jan. 1, 1903, he was united in marriage to Celesta E. Kaufman at Milford, Neb. Together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for over 37 years, of which 26 years were spent in the community of Milford. To this union were born 5 daughters. He leaves his loving companion (who patiently cared for him during the last eight months of his life, during which time he was bedfast due to heart complications which he bore very patiently), also 5 daughters (Neoda, wife of Ed. Kennel of Milford; Grace, wife of Albert Schiffler, New Meadows, Ida.; Lydia, wife of Wes Schiffler, Filer, Ida.; Delta, wife of Glen Klopfenstein; and Delsie, both of Archbold, Ohio). Ten grandchildren also survive. All were present at the funeral except 1 son-in-law and 2 granddaughters. His father-in-law (J. J. Kaufman of Filer, Ida.) was present at the funeral. He also leaves 2 brothers and 2 sisters (Nick, Dan, and Lena of Milford; Anna of Wayland, Ia.), and a large host of relatives and friends. His parents, 1 brother, and 4 sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services in charge of Warren Eicher. Text, Rev. 14: 13.

    Lichti. - Samuel S. Lichti, son of the late Christian E. and Nancy Lichti, was born near Wayland, Iowa, Jan. 15, 1879; died at his home near Shickley, Nebr., Feb. 5, 1923; aged 44 y. 21 d. Death was caused by diabetes, of which he was a sufferer for 15 months, but bore it very patiently. He was united in marriage July 3, 1903, with Katie A. Rediger. This union was blessed with 1 son and 3 daughters. His companion died March 5, 1911, and he was remarried Mar. 30, 1915, to Leah B. Schrock. This union was blessed with 3 sons and 1 daughter. He leaves to mourn his departure his companion, 4 sons, 4 daughters, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and many other relatives and friends. He united with the A. M. Church in his youth and was a faithful member until Jesus called him to his reward. In the home as a Christian father he was not so much concerned about himself as about the welfare of his children. We have the consolation that the Lord doeth all things well, and that our loss is his gain. God alone knows why He has removed him, even tho it is hard for us to understand. Services were conducted at the house by Bro. Joseph Rediger reading Psa. 90. Bro. William Eicher opened the services at the church by reading II Cor. 5. Funeral sermon preached by Bro. L. O. Schegel. Text, Heb. 4: 9, 11. Services at the grave by Bro. William Eicher.

    Kennel.-Mary, daughter of C. E. and Nancy Lichti, was born near Wayland, Iowa, Sept. 29, 1881; died in the hospital at Geneva, Nebr., Sept. 11, 1938; aged 56 y. 11 m. 13 d. In her youth she moved with her parents to Longmont, Colo., where she accepted Christ as her Saviour in the Mennonite faith in 1895 and remained loyal to Him and the Church until the Lord called her home. On Feb. 2, 1915, she was united in marriage to John K. Kennel near Shickley, Neb. She with her husband moved to their farm in Thayer County in 1919, then back to their farm in Fillmore County in 1925. From there they moved to town Oct. 6, 1927, where she lived at the time of her passing. This home was blessed with 3 children, 2 of whom with the sorrowing husband survive (Donald W. of Leadville, Colo.; Beatrice M., on their home place near Shickley, Neb.; and J. C., who died in infancy). Besides these she leaves 3 grandchildren, 2 sisters (Anna and Lena), 3 brothers (Nick, Chris, and Dan), 36 nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Her parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother preceded her in death. She apparently seemed in good health till 4 weeks ago, when she was stricken with diabetes, which caused her much suffering but which she did very patiently. Her place at church or wherever aid was needed was never vacant. She was always willing to do whatever called upon for her Master and friends and before her marriage, for 4 years cared for 3 nieces and 1 nephew who were left without a mother, and whose welfare she always had at heart. Funeral services conducted by the home ministers and Bro. Wm .Eicher. Text, Heb. 9: 27.

    Lichti, Mathilda, daughter of Samuel S. and Katie (Rediger) Lichti, was born Sept. 26, 1904, at Longmont, Colo.; departed this life Feb. 5, 1952, at the home of Charles La Voo, Pueblo, Colo.; aged 47 y. 4 m. 9 d. At the age of three she moved with her parents to Shickley, Nebr., where she spent the greater portion of her life. In her early youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church since that time. All thorough her years of suffering Mathilda never lost sight of her Lord and her earnest desire was to be in His will . She leaves to mourn her stepmother (Mrs. Sam Steider, Beaver Crossing, Nebr.), 4 brothers (Eluis and Lon, Huntsville, Ark.; Floyd, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Leonard, Hesston, Kans.), and 2 sisters (Goldie, Iowa City, Iowa, and Mrs. Florence Pointer, Seward, Nebr.). Her mother, father, and one sister (Elsie) preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at Valhalla Funeral Home, Pueblo, Colo., Feb. 6 in charge of Marcus Bishop and at Salem Mennonite Church, Shickley, Nebr., Feb. 8, in charge of P. R. Kennel, assisted by F. C. Reeb. Interment was made in adjoining cemetery.
