    CHARLES REGINALD KIDNER 1908-1977

    Charles Reginald Kidner was born in Toronto and raised in St. Thomas. He came to Preston in 1937 from Kitchener. He was a commissioner of the Preston Public Utilities Commission and also served as a trustee on the Preston Separate School Board. Mr. Kidner was an executive vice president of the Savage Shoe Company and after leaving that company in 1967, formed a chartered accountancy partnership with Ken L. Montgomery in Kitchener. He was a charter member of the Chartered Accountants of Ontario and was a past president of the Canadian Shoe Manufacturers' Association. Mr. Kidner died on December 18, 1977 and is buried in Park Lawn Cemetery.

    Suddenly, as the result of a heart attack, at North York General Hospital, Toronto, Sunday, December 18, 1977, C. Reginald Kidner, of 447 Blue Heron Ridge, Cambridge (P), in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Mary Fenton; dear father of Joan (Mrs. William Jacques), Nancy (Mrs. Thomas Landreth) of Cambridge; step-father of Peter Fenton of Agincourt, Janet (Mrs. Gary Dumb) of Agincourt and Patricia (Mrs. Duncan Baird) of Beaconsfield, Que.; also survived by one brother, John, of Toronto, and 17 grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife, Mary Weber, in 1963, and two sisters. Mr. Kidner was born in Toronto and raised in St. Thomas. A resident of Cambridge (P), for 40 years, moving there from Kitchener. Retired from Savage Shoes (1970) Limited, as executive vice-president, in 1967; then formed a partnership with Kenneth L. Montgomery in Kitchener (chartered accountants). A member of St. Clement's Church, Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club, Galt Country Club; a commissioner of the Preston Utility Commission; a charter member of the Chartered Accountancy of Ontario; past president of the Canadian Shoe Manufacturing Association. A former member of the Preston council and separate school board. A private family committal service was held today (Tuesday), in Park Lawn Chapel, Cambridge (P).
