On Thursday, Feb. 4, 1993, at Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge, in her 81st year. Ella Heggie, beloved wife of the late Albert (Rosy) Laurence (1984). Dear mother of Donald of Cambridge, Joan (Mrs. Doug Merkel) of St. Jacobs and Carol Arsenault of Hampton, N.B. Lovingly remembered by 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one brother, David Heggie of Mississauga and one sister, Mary Adamson of Cambridge. Predeceased by her parents, one brother, George Jr. of Cambridge and one sister. Jessie Ford of Cambridge. Mrs. Laurence was born in Cambridge (Galt) and was a lifelong resident of Cambridge. She had been employed for 33 years at Savage Shoe, retiring 15 years ago. She was a former member of the Harmony Bluebirds of Cambridge (Galt). The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Friday), 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 7, 1993, at St. John's Anglican Church, Queenston Road, Cambridge at 2 p.m. Cremation following.

Loving wife of Doug for 46 years; dear mother of Susie Soehner of Linwood, Doug Jr. and his wife Anita of Red Lake, Ont., Cathy Dernesch of Waterloo, Rick and his wife Beth of St. Jacobs, John Merkel of St. Jacobs and Rose Butterworth and husband Jim of Kitchener; adoring grandmother of Corey. Jeremy, Jennifer, Nashira, Shannon, Ariel, Jeffrey, Brandon, Tammy, Brian, Brittany and Samantha; sister of Carol Laurence of Elliot Lake and Donald and his wife Jean Laurence of Hespeler. Joan's family received friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, at 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Saturday, from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service followed at St. James Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs on Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joan Lee officiating. Interment, where she will rest close by her parents. Burt and Ella Laurence, to follow at Parklawn Cemetery, Preston.
