    News has been received in Eagle this week of the death of Stephen Martin Playford at his home near Forestburg, Alberta, Canada, on April 16, 1932.

    The deceased and his family were residents of Eagle from about 1893 to 1911, and is remembered here by all older residents of this section.

    Born in Cross Hill, Ontario, Canada, September 16, 1853, he came to Leadville in 1878. While in Leadville, in 1889, he was married to Miss Jessie Bone, in Colorado Springs.

    Mr. Playford was a member of Leadville lodge No. 51, A. F. A. M. and became a charter member of Castle Lodge NO. 122, A. F. & A. M. when that lodge was organized in Eagle in 1911. Later he was honored with a life membership of the Leadville lodge. In 1914 he moved with his family back to the land of his birth, locating near Forestburg, where he died.

    He is. survived by his widow and two sons, Alan of Kent, Wash., and Paul of Forestburg and three sisters Mrs. Madsen of Denver, Colo., Mrs. McLean, Waterloo, Ontario, and Mrs. Bowler of Vancouver.
