An Old Settler Dead. There died at his home, on Monday evening, about two miles south of Elmira, in his 89th year, Mr Henry Musser, one of the earliest settlers in this township...He was married to one Pauline Reist and raised a large family, eight of whom are living in this immediate neighborhood. The sons are, Henry, Peter and Samuel, and the daughters are, Mrs. Dan Gingrich, of Winfield, Mrs. John Lackner, and Susan, Fanny and Maria, living on the old homestead...His remains will be interred in the old Mennonite Cemetery, at Elmira

Lackner. - Barbara Musser was born May 16, 1847. In March, 1873, she was married to John Lackner who preceded her 9 years ago. This union was blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters (Henry, Susanna, - Mrs. Ed Fries, and Mary Ann). One son died in infancy. Three children, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren survive; also 1 sister (Mrs. Daniel Gingerich). She united with the Mennonite Church early in life and remained true to the end. She died July 11, 1928, aged 81 y. 1 m. 25 d. Funeral services July 13 conducted by Oliver Snider at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church.

Mrs. Daniel Gingrich

An aged and respected resident of Peel Township for the past 56 years, Mrs. Daniel Gingrich, Sr., aged 82 years 4 months an 1 day, passed away on Sunday morning at the home of her son, Mr. Anson Gingrich in the Seventh Concession of that township.

Mrs. Gingrich, who had been ill for the past three months, due to her advanced years, was born in the Township of Woolwich, southwest of Elmira, her maiden name being Magdelena Musser. After her marriage to Daniel Gingrich she lived five years with her husband on the Musser homestead and then moved to Peel Township, where she has since been a continuous resident. Her husband passed away some twelve years ago. Mrs. Gingrich was the last member of the Musser family. With a family of five, four sons survive, one daughter Noising away when five years of age. The sons are Addison, Anson and Daniel Gingrich, who reside in the same neighborhood on the sixth and seventh concessions of Peel and Henry, who has a farm north of Floradale in Woolwich Township. There are also 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The funeral took place this (Wednesday) morning at nine o'clock with services at the house and in the North Woolwich Mennonite church and cemetery, where the remains were interred. The clergymen in charge were Revs. John Bowman, Jessie Bowman and A. Bearinger.

Musser. - Henry Musser was born Aug. 9, 1851; died May 17, 1928; aged 76 y. 9 m. 8 d. He was married to Barbara Witzel with whom he lived 51 years. This union was blessed with 3 sons and 3 daughters with whom the mother and 12 grandchildren remain to mourn his departure. He united with the Mennonite Church when a young man and served as deacon for 34 years. Funeral services were held on May 21 at the St. Jacobs, Ont. Mennonite Church, conducted by Bros. Abraham Gingerich and Jonas Snider

Mrs. Susanna Fries, 80, of 71 Joseph St., died yesterday at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lackner and was born Feb. 18, 1874 in Wellesley Township. She was a charter member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Her husband, Edward, predeceased her.

She is survived by one son, Oliver of Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. H. (Ella) Noelke of Mertzon, Texas, and Mrs. A. (Leona) Datars of Hamilton, Ont., and four grandchildren. One brother Henry and one sister Mary predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 pm at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home with ….

Born Jan. 19, 1885, in Peel Township, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Gingrich.

Surviving are two sons, Noah of Floradale and Sydney of RR. 2, Drayton; three daughters, Mrs. Enos (Lydian) Horst and Mrs. Cleason (Salome) Martin, both of RR 2, Drayton and Mrs. Rufus (Magdalena) Bauman of RR. 2, Wallensteln; four stepsons, Joseph and Mahlon Martin, both of RR 2, Wallenstein. The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor until Tuesday noon when removal was made to the home of his son, Noah, in Flora-dale for the service Wednesday at 8: 30 a.m. standard time. A further service followed at North Woolwich Mennonite Meeting House, Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Visitation will be held from the home of Ivan and Eileen Horst, RR 3, Listowel on Thursday, April 2, 2009 (today) from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., and on Friday, April 3, 2009 from 2-6 p.m. Transfer will then be made to the home of Alvin and Nancy Gingrich, RR 2, Drayton for funeral service on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 9 a.m., then to North Woolwich Mennonite Meeting House for further service and burial in the adjoining cemetery. Passed away peacefully at her residence in Carthage on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at the age of 103.

Hannah (Gingrich) Martin was the wife of the late Orval Martin (2005). Mother of Elsie and Willis Martin of Floradale, Oscar and Dorothy Martin of Elmira, Mary and Mervin Bauman of Carthage, Alice and Clayton Metzger of Elmira. Grandmother of 21 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 56 great-great-grandchildren. Sister of Mary Clemmer of Elmira.

Predeceased by her parents Henry and Veronica (Bauman) Gingrich, brother-in-law Vernon Clemmer, and grandson Marvin Martin.

Public drive-by viewing will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at North Woolwich Mennonite Meeting House. Private family interment will follow. A funeral service (by phone) will take place at 2 p.m. from Goshen Mennonite Meeting House.
