Bachert -On the 8th of May, 1906, near Mannheim, Waterloo Co., Ont., Bro. Samuel Bachert, in his 65th year. He had been ailing for some time, but it was only a few weeks before his death that his condition became serious, and he grew worse until death finally relieved him. He was a member of the Mennonite church for many years. Funeral services were held on the 11th by M. C. Bowman, Noah Stauffer and Menno Cressman.

William Bachert, 85, of 62 Gruhn St., died today at the Likeholme Lodge, St. Jacobs, after a lengthy illness. He farmed in Waterloo Tp. for many years.
Mr. Bachert was born Dec. 16, 1869 at Mannheim, s/o the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bachert. His wife, the former Elvina Baer, predeceased him Jan. 6, 1952.
He was a member of Stirling Ave. Mennonite Church and was formerly a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Clayton of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Wilfred of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Eva) Bachert (sic) of Kitchener and Miss Alice Bachert, a medical missionary in South America; one brother, Gideon of Mannheim; one sister, Mrs. James Pettitt of Guelph; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One son, Ivan, died in 1946....

Shantz.-Susannah, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bachert, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont., April 2, 1872; passed away in the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., April 22, 1949; aged 77 y. 20 d. In early years she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Latschar Mennonite Church at Mannheim, Ont., where she remained a faithful member till death. In 1900 she was united in marriage to Josiah Shantz, who predeceased her in January, 1945. Surviving are 3 daughters (Cecilia and Corella, at home; and Kathryn-Mrs. Clayton Weber), 2 brothers (William and Gideon), one sister (Mrs. James Pettit, Guelph, Ont.), 3 grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives and friends. His marriage to the former Mary Still, who survives, took place Sept. 1944. Surviving besides his parents and wife, are two brothers, Clayton, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Wilfrid, Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Eva) Shantz, Kitchener, and Alice, Medellin, B.C. The funeral will take place in Powell River, where interment will be made.

Snyder. Lula Shantz was born July 5, 1901; died Jan. 29, 1938; aged 36 y. 6 m. 24 d. In September, 1932, she was united in marriage to Roy Snyder. There remain to mourn her departure her husband, 3 stepchildren (Adeline, Lorne, and Lucinda), also her parents (Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Shantz) and 3 sisters (Cecilia, Corella, and Catharine, Mrs. Clayton Weber). One sister predeceased her five years ago. At the age of 14 she accepted her Saviour and united with the Church, to which she remained faithful until death. During her illness (which covered several years) she suffered much weakness, but she bore it patiently with the strength she had. Her last illness brought to her a desire to leave this world of suffering and exchange it for a heavenly home, for which she declared herself prepared. Funeral service was conducted by Brethren M. Hallman and H. W. Stevanus. Her body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Bloomingdale, Ont.

Miss Reta Shantz
Many friends were sorry to learn of the death of Miss Reta Shantz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah N. Shantz, of near Wilmot Centre, who passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, early last Thursday morning, January 12th, in her 25th year. She was taken ill about three months ago and as her condition did not improve she was taken to the hospital but all medical skill and nursing was of no avail.
She is mourned by her parents and four sisters, Mrs. Roy Snyder, of Bloomingdale, and Misses Celia, Corella and Catherine, all at home, besides a large circle of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held last Saturday afternoon from the home of her parents to Latchar's Mennonite Church at Mannheim and was very largely attended. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Obituary of Marjorie Musselman
Passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the age of 91 years.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Reuben in 2005 and her son Tom in 2010. Survived by her children, Peter Musselman, Peggy Snyder (James predeceased 1991), John (Kathy) Musselman and daughter-in-law Mary Musselman (Dan Thomas), grandchildren Tanya, Jennifer (Brian), Brad, Joanna (Paul), Matthew (Laurie), Luke, Stephanie, Reuben (Madeline), Rachel (Darcy) and Daniel as well as her great grandchildren Owen, Leah, Cassidy, Katie, Molly, Travis, Kali and Jackson. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Gloria and Jean Bachert and brother-in-law Mannie Oyer. Predeceased by her brothers Ross and Bob Bachert and sister Jeanne Oyer.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of St. Mary's Cardiac Care Unit for the professional and compassionate care provided during Marjorie's illness.

At the age of ten he accepted Christ as his Saviour and became a member of the Mannheim (Ont.) Mennonite Church, to which he remained faithful to his death. Surviving are his parents, one sister (Margaret), and one brother (Stewart), and a large number of friends, classmates, and relatives. SCHMITT, Stewart Leslie
Passed away peacefully surrounded by the support, love and comfort of his family on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth. Stewart was born on June 17, 1946 in Kitchener, Ontario, a son of the late Wilfred and Elsie (Bachert) Schmitt.
Beloved husband and best friend of Diannia (Rickert) Schmitt whom he married on July 9, 1965. Dearly loved father of Lori Otterbein and her husband Mike and Benjamin Schmitt. Loving Papa to Trent and Eve Otterbein. Stewart will be forever remembered by his sister Margaret and husband Howard Ellis, brother-in-law Terry Rickert and wife Jean as well as by his nieces and nephews.
Stewart is now in the presence of his daughter Lisa Schmitt, grand daughter Willow Otterbein, and brother Donald Schmitt who have all predeceased him and were awaiting his arrival.
Stewart was a lifetime member of Wilmot Centre Missionary Church, Baden. He was an active participant in the church as Worship Leader. He served as the business administrator, Pastoral Aid and Receptionist at the church for well over 20 years. Stewart was an avid reader and woodworker and especially loved a good game of hockey. You would have often found him at the local games cheering on the Kitchener Rangers. Stewart worked at Knechtels wholesale Grocers and Cressman Meats. Stewart was a trusted and true friend to many.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship and sharing beginning at 11:00 am at Wilmot Centre Missionary Church 2463 Bleams Road, Petersburg on Saturday, March 14, 2020. A private family interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy we ask you would consider making a donation to Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice or to the family for the tombstone which can be arranged through the funeral home (Cheques Accepted).
