    Mrs. Henry Merklinger

    TAVISTOCK - Mrs. Henry Merklinger, 82, of 68 William Street, Tavistock, died Friday night at Avon Crescent Hospital, Stratford.

    Mrs. Merklinger had been a patient there since June of 1964. She was the former Emma Marie Schneider and was born on July 3, 1883, in East Zorra Township.

    She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies' Aid and Lutheran Women's Mission League. She was also organist for the congregation for many years.

    Mrs. Merklinger was predeceased by her husband in July of 1949. Surviving are a son, Lorne of Kitchener; a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Freida) Neeb of RR 1, Gadshill; a brother, George of Kitchener; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    The body will be at the James H. Francis Funeral Home until noon Monday, when removal will be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Rev. Otto Brillinger will officiate at the service to be held at 2:30 pm.

    Temporary entombment will be in the Stratford cemetery with later burial to be in St. Paul's cemetery in Tavistock.

    NEEB,Frieda-Mrs. Frieda Elizabeth Neeb, age 96, passed away peacefully at Nithview Home, New Hamburg, on Thursday, January 31, 2008. Born in Tavistock, July 2, 1911, daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Schneideer) Merklinger. On August 22, 1934 she married Henry Edward Neeb. They farmed in North Easthope Township until moving to Stratford in 1978. Henry predeceased her I January of 1982. Frieda was Librarian in the Tavistock Public Library for several years. She was a member of First St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wellesley, The Mary Martha Society, LWML, LLL and taught Sunday School for many years. Frieda was a former member of the Hampstead Women's Institute and a director of the Wellesley-North Easthope Agricultural Society. She loved her flowers and doing crafts. She is the loving mother of Irene Epp, New Hamburg, Ralph Neeb and wife Louise, RR 1, GadsHill. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Paul Epp (Dianne), Colleen Peat (Jairus), Heather Crane (Derick) and Keith Neeb. Great-grandmother of Vincent and Jacalyn Epp. Also survived by sister-in-law, Willy Merklinger and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by son-in-law, Wilfred Epp; brothers, Walter Merklinger (Erma), Lorne Merklinger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Fleischauer (Edwin), John Neeb (Verda and 2nd wife Myrtle), Clarence Neeb (Margaret), Florence Mueller (Herman) and two nephews. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, February 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday at 1st St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Andy Schroth will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the 1st St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church-Roof Fund or to the Lutheran Hour through the funeral home.

    LORNE MARTIN MERKLINGER - 1916 - 2006 - Passed away, peacefully after a lengthy illness, at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener, on May 16, 2006, at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband of Willy (nee Williamson). Sadly missed by his sister, Frieda Neeb of New Hamburg; his nieces, Irene Epp and Mary Ann (Larry) Keller both of New Hamburg; and his nephew, Ralph (Louise) Neeb of Gadshill. Lorne is survived by five great-nieces, two great-nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew. Predeceased by his parents, Henry and Emma (nee Schneider) Merklinger; a brother, Walter Merklinger; sister-in-law, Erma (nee Woelfle) Merklinger and a nephew Wilfred Epp. Lorne was a former resident of the Lutherwood Sunshine Centre, and was an employee of several K-W area small businesses including Beaver Lumber and Tony Obermeyer Construction. Friends are invited to share their memories of Lorne with his family at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John Street West, at Severn in Waterloo on Friday, May 19, 2006 from 12: 00 to 1 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Lorne's life will follow in the church at 1 p.m. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family in the church Parish hall for refreshments and a time to visit. Interment will then follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.
