    MRS. H. F. GRUHN

    The funeral took place on Thursday of the late Mrs. (Rev.) H. F. Gruhn who died Monday morning at Erie, Pa. Services were held at the home of Mr. Fred Gruhn, Wellington St., Berlin and at St. Mathews Lutheran church at 2.30, after which the remains were taken to Mount Hope Cemetery for interment.

    The deceased was a daughter of Mr. Joseph Gorman of Berlin and had many friends here, having been stamp vendoress at the post office for some years before her marriage and afterwards residing in New Hamburg where her husband was stationed.

    The remains arrived in the city at six o'clock at evening. Services were also held on Tuesday evening in her husband's church in Erie.
    Mrs. Gruhn is survived by her father, two brothers, Lincoln and Fred, her husband and a seven-year-old son. by whom she will be greatly missed.

    Fred Gruhn dies; funeral home owner

    Frederick H. Gruhn, president of Gruhn Funeral Home Ltd., died Sunday of a heart attack his his 178 Queen St. S. residence. He was 59. Mr. Gruhn joined Lippert Funeral Home in Kitchener in 1939 and brought the business in 1947. He had operated it ever since. Born in Erie, Pa., he obtained his embalmer's licence from the Canadian School of Embalming in Toronto. He worked at funeral homes in Vineland and Toronto before coming to Kitchener. In 1943 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve and served in the North Atlantic on convoy duty. He was discharged in 1946. Mr. Gruhn was a member of the Ontario Funeral Service Association, the Central Ontario Funeral Directors' Association, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 50, the Loyal Order of Moose, K-W Naval Veterans Association, the United Commercial Travellers of America and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. His is survived by his wife and two sons in Kitchener and a brother in California. Funeral services will be held Wednesday.
