MRS. CATHARINE STEINMAN

BADEN, May 25. - Mrs. Catharine Steinman, relict of the late Joseph H. Steinman, died at her residence, R.K. No. 2, New Hamburg yesterday morning after a lengthy illness. She was in her 77th year. She was born in Mornington Township and was of the Mennonite faith.

Her husband having predeceased her 16 years ago. she is survived by ten children, three brothers, J. B. O. Schmidt, Daniel B. O. Schmidt and Peter B. O. Schmidt, and three sisters, Barbara Zehr of Crosshill, Mary Zapziger of Topping and Mattie Ebersole of Milverton.

The funeral will be held Monday at 1.30 from her late residence, to Steinman's church for service. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.

Y.; aged 67 y. 11 m. 25 d. She was married on Jan. 19, 1888, to Daniel M. Gingerich who passed away Nov. 21, 1929. She leaves 6 sons and 5 daughters: David of Alden, N. Y.; Moses, Samuel, Nicholas, William, Rachel (Mrs. Joel Wideich), Saviera (Mrs. Aaron Lehman), and Fanny (Mrs. Aaron Moshier), all of Lowville, N. Y.; Olive (Mrs. Manassah Cressman), Tillie and Henry of Baden, Ont.; also 33 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, and a host of friends. She united with the Amish Mennonite Church in her youth, and remained true to the faith till death. Throughout her suffering her faith and trust in God never wavered. She had a deep concern for her children and prayed for them, that they should all be brought into the fold of Jesus Christ. She was always glad to have visitors, desiring them to read the Word of God and have prayer with her. Short funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Aaron Moshier of Lowville, N. Y., on the evening of Sept. 26, 1935, after which her remains were brought to Baden, Ont., to the home of her son, Henry, where funeral was held Sept. 28, 1935, with further services at the Steinman Mennonite Church. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. The services were in charge of Moses Jantzi, assisted by Moses Roth, Christ Schultz, and Moses M. Shantz

Sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Funeral service will be held at the residence, at 1:30 p.m. Friday followed by service in St. Agatha A.M. Church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Peter Nafziger will be In charge of the service. Remains are resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until four p.m. on Wednesday when the removal will be made to the residence.

On Dec. 10, 1895, he was joined in matrimony to Sister Magdalena Roth of East Zorra, which union was blessed with 1 son and 1 daughter, together with 1 adopted daughter. He died June 16, 1940, at the home of his son in New Hamburg, Ont.; aged 65 y. 1 m. 4 d. Surviving are his sorrowing companion, son (Daniel) and daughter (Mrs. Simon Roth), both of New Hamburg, and Mrs. Irma Brozio of Kitchener, Ont.; also 9 grandchildren, 1 brother (Noah of Southeasthope), 4 sisters (Barbara, wife of David Gascho; Mary, wife of Christ Erb, Waterloo; Catherine, widow of Rudy Kropf; Rachel, wife of Moses Moyer, Wilmot). Services were conducted at the home by Bro. Peter Nafziger of St. Agatha, and at the East Zorra A. M. Church by home ministers, Brethren J. R. Bender, Menno Kipfer and D. S. Jutzi. NEW HAMBURG. June 17.- Ill for the past year. Abraham S. Lichti. 65. died Sunday at the home of his son, Daniel. Born in St. Agatha, he retired from the farm 15 years ago and in recent years had been employed in New Hamburg and Kitchener. Mr. Lichti attended the Amish- Mennonite church on the 16th line of East Zorra. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Lichti.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son. Daniel of New Hamburg, two daughters. Mrs. Simon Roth of New Hamburg and Mrs. William Borzio of Kitchener, two brothers. Noah Lichti of South Easthope and Nicholas Lichti of Waterloo, four sisters. Mrs. Mose Moyer and Mrs. David Gascho, both of St. Agatha. Mrs. Rudy Kropf of North Easthope and Mrs. Chris Erb of Kitchener.

The funeral will be held Wednesday with a private service at the home of his son at 9.30 a.m., followed by public service at the Amish-Mennonite church. East Zorra, at 10.30 a.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Daniel Jutzi will officiate.

New Hamburg - Mrs. Rudolph (Katie) Kropf, 218 Jacob St., New Hamburg, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital on her 85th birthday. Born Catherina Lichti at St. Agatha, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Lichti, Mrs. Kropf has been a resident here for the past eight years. She was a member of the St. Agatha Amish Mennonite Church. Her husband died in 1938. Surviving are three sons, Aaron of Waterloo, Lorne of Kitchener and Clayton of Philipsburg; three daughters, Mrs. Milton (Elmina) Boshart of Waterloo, Mrs. Irvin (Barbara) Litwiller of Kitchener and Mrs. Henry (Arleatha) Zehr of New Hamburg; one sister, Mrs. Mose (Rachel) Moyer of Kitchener, 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased also by one son, one daughter, five brothers and four sisters. The body will be at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home here until noon Friday, when removal will be made to the St. Agatha Amish Mennonite Church for service at 2: 30 p.m., conducted by Rev. On Apr. 2, 1901, she was married to Moses Mayer, who preceded her in death. Surviving are 3 sons (Elmer, Clarence, and William), 4 daughters (Viola-Mrs. William Gingerich, Adeline - Mrs. Simon Gingerich, Elmina - Mrs. Jeremiah Wismer, and Mabel - Mrs. Elmer Streicher), 28 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Agatha Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held June 2, with Gerald Schwartzentruber and Elmer Schwartzentruber in charge.

MAYER, Rachel (Lichti)

Mrs. Moses Mayer of 526 Stirling Ave. S. died Sunday at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 91.

Born near St. Agatha, she was the former Rachel Lichti, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholaus Lichti. She and her husband farmed near St. Agatha for many years. After the death of her husband in 1952 she lived with her daughter, Mrs. William (Viola) Gingerich.
She was a member of the St. Agatha Mennonite Church.

Surviving are three sons, Elmer of Kitchener, Clarence of Lowville, N.Y., and William of RR 1, New Hamburg; four daughters, Mrs. Gingerich, Mrs. Simon (Adeline) Gingerich of Lowville, N.Y., Mrs. Jeremiah (Elmina) Wismer of Bright and Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Streicher of Tavistock; 28 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by three sons, Allen, Edgar and Aaron, five sisters and five brothers.
The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon Wednesday when removal will be made to the church for service at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Gerald Schwartzentruber and Rev. Elmer Schwartzentruber. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Donations the church building fund will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

Schmitt. - Abraham Schmitt of Baden, Ont., was born March 16, 1889. He was married to Clara Barbara Snyder March 5, 1919. This union was blessed with 1 son (Harold). For several months his health was failing. He suffered intensely with a complication of diseases but bore it all with Christian fortitude. "My grace is sufficient for thee," was verified in his sickness and suffering. Although his body was racked with pain he could still raise his voice in song and often requested his family and friends to sing for him. On Sept. 1 he peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, aged 45 y. 5 m. 15 d. He leaves his deeply bereaved companion and Harold, parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and many other relatives and friends. May God comfort and sustain the bereaved family. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 4 by Orphen Wismer, Moses Yantzi, and Manasseh Hallman at the Schantz Church near Baden. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

MILLBANK-Soloman A. Schmidt, 65, died suddenly at his home Sunday at Millbank.

Born in Wellesley Township, he farmed there for 18 years until his retirement five years ago. He was a member of the Amish Mennonite Church and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Menno Schmidt.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lena Kuepfer; a brother, Joseph of Linwood; and two sisters, Mrs. Gideon (Mary) Zehr of Linwood, and Mrs. John (Nancy) Schwartz of Listowel.

The body is at his home where the funeral will be conducted Thurday at 1 p.m. by Rev. Amos Albrecht. Burial will be in seventh line, Wellesley Township, cemetery.

He is survived by 4 sons, John and Jacob of R. 1, Millbank, Ont., Norman of Brunner, Ont, and Elmer of Kitchener, Ont.; 4 daughters, Emma (wife of Allen Wagler) and Esther (wife of Ohmer Jantzi) of R. 1, Wellesley, Ont., Mary (wife of Amos Gerber) and Laura of R. 1, Millbank, Ont. Also 4 brothers, David and Jacob of R. 1. Millbank, Ont., Aaron of Lewis County, New York, Amos of R. 3, Wellesley, Ont., 1 sister, Mrs. Barbara Noftsier of Lewis County, New York. 36 grandchildren and 1 great -grand-child. He was preceded in death by one sister and one grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite meeting house on March 17, conducted by Noah Gerber of the home congregation and Noah Peachey and Alvin Peachey of Belleville, Penna. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

ZEHR, Jacob S. -- On Friday, June 27, 1980, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Jacob S. Zehr of 48 Henry St., Wellesley, and formerly of Crosshill. He was born in Oxford County 82 years ago, a son of the late Joseph Zehr and the late Barbara Schmidt. he was a member of the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. He operated a repair shop in Crosshill for 40 years. Beloved brother of Amos Zehr of Route 3, Wellesley, Aaron of Lowville N.Y., and David Zehr of Route 1, Milbank, and Barbara (Mrs. Raymond Noftsier) of Casterland, N.Y. Predeceased by one brother and one sister. Visitation at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jantzi, Crosshill, after 7 p.m. this evening. A family service will be held on Monday, June 30, at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. Bishop Arthur Gerber, will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery.

Beloved husband of Nancy Steckly (Zehr) of Millbank, dear father of Katherine and her husband Cornelius Erb of Millbank, Joseph and his wife Deborah Zehr of Millbank, father-in-law of Mrs. Erma Zehr of Poole. Lovingly remembered by 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by one son, Mervin Zehr, November 22, 1967, four brothers, Moses, David, Jacob and Aaron, two sisters, Katherine (Mrs. Noah) Jantzi and Barbara (Mrs. Ray Nostsier).

Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley, where the family will receive friends this evening (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Family service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 9, 1991, at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. Bishop Arthur Gerber will officiate. Mrs. George Albrecht

Mrs. George Albrecht, 75, died on Sunday of last week at the Stratford General Hospital.

She was born in Kingwood in 1894, the former Elizabeth Schmidt, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Schmidt. She was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley.

Surviving are two sons, Ervin, RR 2 Wellesley; John S., Kingwood; three daughters, Mrs. Anson (Mary) Iutzi, Wellesley; Mrs. Omar Leis, RR 2, Wellesley; Mrs. Albert (Emma) Lichti, RR 1, Millbank; one brother, George, Aldon, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Susan) Gascho, Wellesley, Mrs. Noah (Clara) Wagler, RR 1, Millbank; 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday at the Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley.

Burial took place in the church cemetery.

WELLESLEY - Mrs. Jacob Lichty, 53, North Easthope township, died Sunday night at the K-W Hospital. She was the former Mary Schmidt.
Born Feb. 17, 1901, in Kingwood she was a daughter of the late Christian Schmidt and former Mary Lichty.

She married Jacob. Lichty, Feb 15, 1919, in Wellesley and was a member of the Maple View Amish Mennonite Church.

Surviving are seven sons, Edward, Earl, Allen, all of Kitchener Norman of Wellesley, Jacob of Sarnia, Kenneth and Larry, a home; eight daughters. Mrs. Lloyd (Frieda) Gerber, Crosshill; Mrs Armand (Irene) Shantz of Wellesley, Mrs. Melvin (Edith) Nafziger, of Milverton, Mrs. Reginald (Marie) Goulding and Clara, both of Kitchener, and Helen, Wilma and Emmalene, all at home; one brother, George of Buffalo; three sisters, Mrs. Noah Wagler of Millbank, Mrs. George Albrecht of Kingwood and Mrs. Jacob Gascho of Linwood, and nine grandchildren.

The body is resting at her home where private service will be conducted Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by public service at 10 a.m. at the Maple View Amish Mennonite Church. Bishop Samuel Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

RITES FOR MOSES GINGERICH, PINE GROVE, TO BE TUESDAY

Lowville, Oct. 10. Funeral for Moses Gingerich, 70, of Pine Grove, who died Saturday morning in Lewis County General hospital after an illness of three weeks, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Conservative Mennonite church, Croghan, with Rev. Lloyd Boshart, pastor, officiating. A prayer service will be held at the family home at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Conservative Mennonite church cemetery, Croghan.

The body was removed from the Virkler funeral home to his home at Pine Grove where friends may call, Mr. Gingerich was born at
Baden, Ont., Sept. 4, 1890, a son of Daniel and Fanney Lichti Gingerich. He came to the United States in 1924 and had lived in the Lowville area since then. He married Nettie Boshart, July 22, 1913 in Wilmott county, Ont.

She is survived by her husband, 4 daughters (Fannie, Mrs. Lyndaker; Savilla, Barbara, and Arlene), 2 sons (Arthur and John, all at home), 1 stepson (Loyd, of Castorland, N. Y.), 1 grandchild; 6 brothers (Moses and Samuel, of New Bremen; David, of Alden, N. Y.; Nicholas, of Harrisburg, N. Y.; Henry, of Baden, Canada ; and William, of Copenhagen, N. Y.), 4 sisters (Tillie Gingerich and (Olive) Mrs. Manasseh Cressman, of Petersburg, Canada ; (Savilla) Mrs. Aaron Lehman, Castorland, N. Y.; and (Fannie) Mrs. Aaron Moshier, of Lowville). She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and 1 stepson. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Bro. Allen Gingerich, with further services at the Amish Mennonite Church, Croghan, N. LOWVILLE - Samuel Gingerich, 81, Croghan. R.D., retired farmer, died Friday afternoon at 5: 40 in the Lewis County General Hospital where he had been a patient since Aug. 18. He had been in failing health several years. The funeral will be Monday afternoon at 1 at his home and at 1: 30 in the Conservative Mennonite Church, Croghan with Rev. Richard Zehr, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Calling hours at his home will be at the callers convenience. The Virkler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Croghan Conservative Mennonite Church Library Fund in care of Mrs. James Martin, Croghan, or to the Heart Fund. Mr. Gingerich is survived by a son. In 1921 he married Barbara Lehman who died April 13, 1924. He married Melinda Martin in 1928. Mr. Gingerich purchased a farm on the Schnell road which he operated from 1923 to 1946 and then purchased the farm at Croghan which he operated until his retirement in 1960. He and his wife resided in a home adjacent to the farm. Mr. Gingerich was a member of the Croghan Conservative Mennonite Church.

Mrs. Noah L. Erb The death occurred at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Thursday, June 3, of Mrs. Noah L. Erb, nee Nancy Gascho, of near (Mannheim after serious illness for three weeks. Prior to this she had been in poor health for some time.

The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gascho of St. Agatha, where she was born 53 years ago. She was married on January 14^th, 1913 to Noah L. Erb, who, besides five sons and two daughters are left in bereavement. The children are Vernon of Hespeler, Melvin of Rosebank and Clayton Wilfred, Ray, Louella and Edna at home. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Gascho, two brothers, Aaron of St. Agatha, Herbert, Louisville, N. Y., and five sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Rickert, Hespeler, Mrs. Allan Litwiller, Waterloo, Mrs. David Ropp and Mrs. Lorne Roth, Tavistock and Miss Edna Erb of Casterland, N. Y.

The funeral was held on Monday afternoon with public service at the St. Agatha A. M. Church of which the deceased was a faithful member. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. William Seyler, 72, of 79 Church St., died Jan. 20 at K-W Hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Seyler, the former Magdalene Lichty, was born Jan. 21, 1895 in Wilmot Township. A resident of Phillipsburg for many years, Mrs. Seyler lived in Kitchener for the past 12 years.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg; the Lutheran Church Women, the Senior Citizens and Jolly Oldsters. Her husband died in 1955.

She was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church and employed at the K-W Hospital prior to her retirement. Wife of the late Menno L. Roth. Aaron Kropf

Funeral services were held Friday for Aaron Kropf, a native of St. Agatha, who died last week at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, after a lengthy illness. He was 64. A lifelong resident of the Twin City area, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Kropf, and was born at St. Agatha. He was a member of the St. Agatha Mennonite Church and was employed at Sunshine Office Equipment Ltd. For 28 years. Illness forced him to retire in March of 1965. He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Herner, whom he married in St. Agatha Aug. 29, 1925; one son, Wilbert E. of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. William (Verdella) Wynowsky of Waterloo; one brother, Lorne of Kitchener, two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Litwiller of Kitchener and Mrs. Henry (Arleatha) Zehr of New Hamburg; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. The service was held in St. Agatha Mennonite Church Friday afternoon and burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Mrs. Milton Boshart, 60, of 63 Avondale Ave. S., Waterloo died today at K-W Hospital following a lengthy illness.

The former Elmina Kropf, she was born in St. Agatha, Oct. 16, 1905, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Kropf. She was a member of the St. Agatha Mennonite Church, and had lived in Waterloo for the past 10 years. She had formerly lived in Bridgeport.


Surviving are her husband, whom she married in St. Agatha on March 19, 1924; three sons, Berl and Robert, both of Kitchener, and Gary, Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. Lee (Reta) Horst, Kitchener; three brothers, Aaron, Waterloo, Lorne, Kitchener, and Clayton, Wellesley; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Litwiller, Kitchener, and Mrs. Henry (Arleatha) Zehr, New Hamburg; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Wilfred, and a son, Floyd. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon on Friday when removal will be made to the St. Agatha Mennonite Church for the service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Clayton Kropf

Clayton Kropf, Wellesley, died at his home Wednesday following a heart attack. He was 52.

Born March 12, 1915, in St. Agatha, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Kropf.

Employed at Waterloo, for the past 25 years, Mr. Kropf had resided in Wellesley for the past year.

He was a member of Lisbon Evangelical United Church.

His first wife, the former Clara Bast, died in January 1965.

Surviving are his second wife, the former Vera Yost whom he married April 9, 1966, in Wellesley; three sons, Arthur and Bruce of Kitchener and Ronald at home; one stepson, Wilson Cook, also at home; three daughters, Mrs. John (Kelsey) Kuepfer, R. R. 1, New Hamburg, Mrs. Patrick (Shirley) Hergott of St. Clements, and Berniece, at home; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert (Irene) Jutzi, Kitchener; two brothers, Aaron of Waterloo, and Lorne of Kitchener; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Arleatha) Zehr, New Hamburg, and Mrs. Barbara Litwiller, Kitchener, and seven grandchildren.

One brother and one sister predeceased him.

The body was at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley, until noon Saturday when removal was made to Lisbon Evangelical United Brethren Church for service at 2: 30 p.m.

Rev. Lynn Snyder officiated. Internment was made in St. Agatha Mennonite cemetery.

The death of Wilfred Kropf, 42, occurred at his home in Kitchener last Thursday following a heart attack. The deceased was born at St. Agatha, Dec. 12, 1917, a son of the former Katherine Lichty, now of New Hamburg and the late Rudolph Kropf, who died 20 years ago. He moved to Kitchener from St. Agatha three years ago and was employed at the Dominion Tire factory. Surviving besides his mother, are his wife, the former Viola Zehr, whom he married in 1940 in East Zorra Township; three daughters, Donna, Grace and Verna, all at home; three brothers, Aaron of Waterloo, Clayton of Baden, Lorne of Kitchener and three sisters, Mrs. Milton (Elmina) Boshart of Waterloo, Mrs. Barbara Litwiller of Kitchener, Mrs. Henry (Arleatha) Zehr, Jacob street, New Hamburg. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon with service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Kitchener and burial in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. A. W. Lotz officiated.

Mayer, Elmer-On Saturday, May 12, 1979, at St. Mary's Hospital, Elmer Mayer, age 77 years, of Nithview, New Hamburg.

Survived by his son, Cecil of Hanover; his two grandchildren, Timothy, at home, and Kathryn of Exeter; his four sisters and two brothers: Adeline (Mrs. Simon Gingerich) and Clarence Mayer, both of Lowville, N.Y., Elmina (Mrs. Jerry Wismer) of New Hamburg, Mabel (Mrs. Elmer Streicher) of Tavistock, William Mayer of New Hamburg and Viola (Mrs. William Gingerich) of Kitchener.

Predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine Everatt on January 10, 1978; three brothers, Aaron, Allen and Edgar; his father, Moses Mayer and his mother, the former Rachel Lichti.

He was a lifelong member of St. Agatha Mennonite Church.

Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, until noon on Tuesday; then at St. Agatha Mennonite Church for the funeral service on Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Nelson Martin will conduct the service. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.

Carthage - Adeline Gingerich, 96, died Thursday morning at Hallmark Nursing Centre, Carthage, NY. She was formerly of the Sayre Road. A funeral service was held Sunday, May 4, 2003 at the Naumburg Mennonite Church with Rev. Titus Mast, Pastor and Rev. Elmer Moser, officiating. She is predeceased by a grandson, Keith L. Zehr, and three great grandchildren, Devon and Celeste Moshier, and Alissa Zehr; six brothers, Elmer, Aaron, Clarence, Allen, William, and Edgar Mayer, and a sister, Mabel Stricher.

Born in St, Agatha, Ontario Canada, on August 10th, 1906, the daughter of Moses and Rachel Lickti Mayer, she attended school in St. Agatha, Ontario, She came to the United States to seek employment in 1926 as a domestic housekeeper. She married Simon Gingerich Sr. on October 3rd, 1928 at the Lowville Mennonite Church with Rev. Christian Nafziger, Pastor, officiating. She and her husband purchased a dairy farm on the Vary Road in the Town of Harrisburg in 1933. They sold the farm to their son Simon in 1953.

Mr. Gingerich died on April 5, 1998. After her marriage she worked on two dairy farms; one for
John Widrick arid the other for Mrs. Henry 0. Weller. She also worked for Earl Stanton and Earl Barnes families as a domestic housekeeper after her husband's death, and she continued to work for various families in the area as a housekeeper until her retirement.

She was a member of the Naumburg Mennonite Church, Naumburg, NY. For many years she was active in the Lowville Mennonite Sewing Circle, and she also served on many committees for the Mennonite Church. She also enjoyed most kinds of needlework and quilting. She especially loved gardening and the outdoors.

MAYER, William (Bill) -- Suddenly, on Wednesday, Oct 23, 1985, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Bill Mayer, of RR 1, New Hamburg, age 68 years. He was born in St. Agatha, son of the late Moses Mayer and the former Rachael Lichti. He was a member of the Steinman Mennonite Church, RR 2 Baden. Bill enjoyed children and was father to 52 foster boys over a 14 year period. Beloved husband of Ruth Gingerich, whom he married February 27, 1945. Lovingly remembered by his children, Don of RR 1, New Hamburg, Joe and his wife Barbara of RR 2, New Hamburg and Sharon of Waterloo. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jeff and Andrea. Besides his mother, Mr. Mayer is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Bast, whom he married in Baden May 10^th, 1941; four sons, Arnold, Robert, Leonard and Roger, all at home; one daughter Linda, also at home; three brothers, Elmer of Kitchener, Clarence of Lowville, N.Y., and William of New Hamburg; and four sisters, Mrs. Adeline Gingerich, of Lowville, Mrs. Jerry (Elmina) Wismer of Bright, Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Streicher of Tavistock and Mrs. William (Viola) Gingerich of Kitchener. He was predeceased by one daughter and two brothers. The body rested at the residence until noon Friday when removal was made to St. Agatha Amish Mennonite Church for a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Elmer Schwartzentruber officiated assisted by Bishop Orland Gingerich. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Step-father of Gary and Anne Gingerich, Carol Roth and Pete Wilson, Patty Ollies. Sadly missed by his 37 grand-children, 49 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Andrew was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth (Streicher) Kuepfer, son Mahlon Kuepfer, daughters-in-law Dorohty Martin, Dianne Dill, sons-in-law Thomas Askett, James Cole, Gorden Van Dyke, sisters Katie and Elmer Kuepfer, Emma and Dan Zehr, brothers Jacob Kuepfer, Chris and Nancy Kuepfer, Noah Kuepfer and Mose and Rachel Kuepfer. Andrew was a lifelong member of Riverdale Mennonite Church, Millbank. Andrew and Pearl managed and organized Blessings Community Store and Foodbank in Zurich for over ten years. Family and friends will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 7 Spencer Street, Milverton on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Riverdale Mennonite Church, Millbank. Fannie resided at RR1, Linwood and was born 79 years ago in Ellice township. She was the daughter of the late David S. Kuepfer and the former Katie Schmidt. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Mennonite Faith.

Beloved wife of Aaron Wagler, whom she married November 23, 1944. Dear mother of Catherine and her husband Melvin Albrecht of RR 3, St. Mary's ,Eva and her husband Simon Zehr of RR 1, Newton, Nancy and her husband Joseph W. Albrecht of RR 1 , Milverton, Fannie and her husband Kenneth Albrecht of RR 1, Linwood. Sadly missed by 34 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also remembered by her brothers, Andrew Kuepfer of RR 1, Newton, Chris Kuepfer and his wife Rebecca of RR 1, Linwood, Joel Kuepfer and his wife Tena of Millbank and her sisters, Martha Kuepfer of RR 1, Millbank, Mary Wagler of RR 5, Kincardine and a sister-in-law Lydia Kuepfer of RR 1, Millbank.

Fannie was predeceased by two children, Clara and Ezra; two brothers, Eli and David, one sister Annie (Mrs. Eli Zook); three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
