    Notes:

    DEATH OF MRS. ADAM LINTON

Mrs. Adam Linton, whose maiden name was Maggie C. Montgomery, died on Friday night, at the age of 30 years, at the residence of her husband on Waterloo St. The deceased gained for herself a reputation in Guelph, for the quiet way she went around doing good and assisting all that were needy and in trouble. Her work in connection with wiping off the debt of the B.M. E. church, will be long remembered by the members of that congregation. Besides this she was instrumental in organizing a Sunday school, in connection with the work of the church and did everything possible to raise the Negro children, to a higher plane of life. She was also an earnest worker in the First Baptist church, and outside of that body, did all she could for Christ and Christianity. She leaves to mourn her loss, Clara, a bright girl of twelve years, a son, John, 9 years old and her husband. These have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement. Mrs. Linton has been confined to her bed at home for about six weeks, although she has been ailing since before New Years. The cause of her death is not accurately known, but is supposed to have been from kidney complaint, with other complications. She was born in Ayrshire, Scotland and came with her parents, to Galt, 22 years ago, her father, Mr. John Montgomery, is one of the most respected residents in that town, Guelph Mercury. The remains were brought to Galt on Monday and interred, in Mount View Cemetery.
