    MRS. JACOB GRESS

    The death occurred Wednesday night at her home on R.R. 2, Ayr (Cedar Creek Road) of Mrs. Jacob Gress, in her 85th year. the late Mrs. Gress was born at Strasburg, and she came to her present residence as a bride when 20 years old. She was a member of the United Brethren Church in Roseville, and for many years taught Sunday school classes there. Before her marriage she was Elizabeth Baetz.

    Surviving are four daughters, Miss Elizabeth Gress and Mrs. F. Peeler, at home, Mrs. R. H. Rutherford and Mrs. William Leithead of Ayr; two sons, Clarence of Kitchener and and Milton at home. Ten grand-children and six great grandchildren also survive. Her husband predeceased her in 1917.

    The Funeral.

    Memorial service for the late Mrs. Jacob Gress, R.R. No. 2, (Cedar Creek Road), who passed away at her home on Wednesday, took place from the residence at 2.30 Sunday afternoon. Interment was in Cedar Creek Cemetery. The service, conducted by Rev. W. pierce of Kitchener, assisted by Rev. Simon Swartz of Kitchener, was largely attended. During the service Rev. Pierce rendered a solo of the hymn, "The Ninety and Nine," while Rev. Swartz sang, "There Is No Night There." Pallbearers were: three sons-in-law, Henderson Rutherford, William Leithead, Morton Robson; and three nephews, Norman Ziegler, Ivan Ziegler, George Wagner.

    MRS. JACOB GRESS

    AYR. April 24.- Mrs. Jacob Gress, 84, died last night at her residence, R.R. 2. Ayr (Cedar Creek Road). Born in Strasburg, she was the former Elizabeth Baetz Mrs. Gress had lived on the farm where she died for the past 64 years. She was a member of the United Brethren church, Roseville, and a former Sunday school teacher. Her husband predeceased her in 1917.

    Surviving are two sons, Clarence, park superintendent of Kitchener, and Milton at home, four daughters, Miss Elizabeth and Mrs. F. Peeler at home, Mrs. W. H. Rutherford and Mrs. William Leithhead of Ayr, ten grandchildren and six great-grand- children.

    A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2.30 p.m. at her residence. Interment will be in Cedar Creek cemetery. Remains will rest at the Harold Gray Funeral Home, Galt, until Friday at 2 p.m.

    Mrs. Violet Leithead Passes

    Mrs. Violet Leithead of Broadway Manor, Paris, formerly of Stanley Street, Ayr, passed away on Monday, July 9th. She was in her 88th year. Born in North Dumfries Township, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gress. She was predeceased by her husband William Leithead several years ago. For many years the couple had farmed east of Ayr until retiring to Ayr 25 years ago. Mrs. Leithead had been a resident of Broadway Manor since October, 1970. She was a member of Paris Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Gress and Mrs. Helena Peeler, both of RR 1, Ayr; a brother Milton Gress of Preston; also three nieces and two nephews. Funeral service will be held today (Wed.) at 3: 30 p.m. from the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.

    Death of Mrs. Morton Robson

    Following an automobile accident at FreeIton on Sunday, Dec. 3, in which she was critically injured, the death occurred at Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 24th, of Mrs. Morton Robson, Ayr, in her 51st year. The accident took place about 9:45 p.m., while Mrs. Robson was crossing the highway to the residence where she was staying. She was run down by a car and critically injured. Mrs. Robson was born on Cedar Creek Road, her maiden name being Florence Gress, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gress. She was a member of Knox United Church. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by three daughters, Ileen, Isabel and Florence; two brothers and five sisters: Clarence Gress, Kitchener; Milton Gress, Cedar Creek Road; Mrs. Henderson Rutherford and Mrs. William Leithead, east of Ayr, and Janet, Elizabeth and Lena at home. The funeral will take place this (Wed.) afternoon from Wilson's Funeral Home to Ayr Cemetery.

    ZIEGLER, Norman W. - At Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, on Tuesday, July 12, 1977, after a lengthy illness, Norman William Ziegler, of 104 Walter St., age 75 years. Mr. Ziegler was born in Cambridge (Preston), a son of the late Edward Ziegler and the former Ida Gress. A member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and formerly employed at Fishers Bakery for 37 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Annetta Heimpel; by two sons, Edward J. and Lloyd W., both of Waterloo and by grandsons, Scot, Craig and Joel. Mr. Ziegler was the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by a brother, Ivan and a sister, Mrs. Luella Wagner. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, after 7 p.m. tonight. Funeral and committal service in the chapel Friday at 3 p.m., with Rev. Harold Brill.

    Long-time Ayr resident, Aileen Elizabeth Gingrich, died at Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, April 12, 2003. She was in her 87th year.

    Born in Oxford County, the daughter of Florence (Gress) and Thomas Morton Robson, Aileen was a retired 37-year employee of the CIBC branch in Ayr, an active long-time membr of the Ayr Horticultural Society, Ayr Knox United Church and the Friendship Club.

    Mrs. Gingrich was predeceased by her husband Orville Gingrich in 1991.

    She is survived by her sister Isabel G. Robson of Water; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Ransome of Paisley; her two nephews Eric Ransome of Paisley and Bruce Ransome of Port Elgin; and her three cousins.

    Reverend Fred Hagle of Knox United Church, Ayr will conduct funeral services as the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Ayr, today (Wednesday) at 2: 00 pm.

    Interment Ayr Cemetery.

    Isabel Robson

    Isabel Gemmell Robson, formerly of Cambridge, passed away at Pinehaven Nursing Home, Waterloo, on Monday, December 8th, 2003. She was in her 86th year.

    Isabel was born and raised in Ayr and as an adult she lived and worked in Toronto for many years. She returned to Cambridge with her sister, Florence, who predeceased her by twenty years. Isabel was a member of St. John's-on-the-Hill United Church, a member of the Galt Horticultural Society and was a volunteer with the Cambridge Library Gallery.

    Lovingly remembered by her cousins and extended family and friends. Miss Robson was predeceased by two sisters: Aileen Gingrich (2003) and Florence Robson and by her parents, Morton and Florence Robson.

    Funeral service was held at Coutts Funeral Home, Cambridge on Friday.

    Miss Florence (Bubs) Christina Robson of Cambridge passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, December 22, 1982. She was in her 59th year. Born in Ayr in 1924, Miss Robson was a daughter of the late Morton Robson and Florence Gress. She lived in Toronto until she moved to Cambridge six years ago. She was an adherent of the Knox's (Galt) Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sisters, Isabel Robson of Cambridge and Mrs. Orville (Aileen) Gingrich of Ayr. Funeral §ery ice was held on Friday, December 24th from the Coutts and Son Funeral Home, Galt. Interment in the Ayr Cemetery.
