    William Dilly

    PRESTON - William Bain Dilly, well-known Galt and Preston resident, died in hospital at London, Ont. today after an illness of eight months. He was 64 and had lived in this district since 1911. he also lived seven years in Georgetown. Born in Scotland he came to Canada in 1911, making his home in Galt. Three years ago, following the death of his wife, Mary MacDonald Gardner, he lived in Preston. A mechanical engineer, he was associated with Butler Metal Products here. He was a member of First United Church, Galt. Surviving are three sons, John and William Dilly, Jr., of Toronto and Gilbert Dilly of Preston; four daughters, Mrs. George (Catherine) Ogilvie of Montreal; Mrs. C.J. (Marion) MacNamara, Georgetown; Mrs. T.K. (Dorothea) Bires of London, and Mrs. Ion (Mary) McColm of Toronto; a brother Robert, of Galt; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Newton of Windsor, Mrs. Harold Steele and Mrs. Bert Fowell of St. Catharines, and 10 grandchildren . The body is at the T. Little and Son Funeral Home, Galt, pending funeral arrangements

    PRESTON - The funeral for William Bain Dilly, 64, of Coronation Boulevard, who died yesterday, will be held at the T. Little and Son funeral home, 39 Grand Avenue North, Galt, at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery, Galt

    OGILVIE, Catherine Marion (nee Dilly) - At Riverbend Place, Cambridge, on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Loving wife and best friend of the late George Ogilvie (2004), for over 53 years. Loving and devoted mother of Marion and her husband Richard Galway, Barbara Kiefer and David Ogilvie, all of Cambridge. Dear grandmother of James, Paul (Erin) and Neil Galway, Jeff, Lisa, and Jason Kiefer and great-grandmother of Nicholas, son of Paul and Erin. Also survived by her sister, Mary McColm and her brother, Bill. Predeceased by her sisters, Marion McNamara and Dodie Birss and her brothers, John and Gibby. Catherine was born in Galt to the late Mary and William Dilly. Her lifelong love of reading lead her to Graham's Book Store where she was employed before her marriage to George. Catherine was a wonderful wife and mother who was dedicated to her husband and family. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge, where the Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 24, 2008, at 12 p.m. A private family interment will take place at New Hope Cemetery, Cambridge. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the 3rd floor nurses and staff of Riverbend Place for their compassionate and loving care for mom.     WILLIAM BAIN DILLY January 27, 1924 - May 9, 2014 Bill died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Ayr, Ontario. Predeceased by his wife Maxine (nee Grimmer) to whom he was married for 51 years, he is survived by his close friend and sister Mary McColm and his sisters-in-law, Ellen Dilly and Ruth Stager. Father of Michael (Mindy Baker), Nancy (Bill Anderson), Chris and Mary-Elizabeth; grandfather of Michael (Virginia), Billy (Joelle), Jonathan, Megan (Jules Langdon), Eli, William and Catherine and great-grandfather of Orrin and Ayanna. Predeceased by his siblings John, Gilbert, Marion McNamara, Catherine Ogilvy and Dorthea Birss. Bill was born in Georgetown, Ontario and attended public and high school in Cambridge before joining the RCAF where he served as a navigator in Europe during World War II. After the war, Bill had a successful career in marine engineering and real estate development. Throughout his life, living and working in southwestern Ontario, Bill most enjoyed his time in Muskoka, Ayr and his visits to Florida and to Vermont. He was particularly proud of the family cottage in Muskoka that he built himself with help, from time to time, from various family members. An avid golfer at Weston Golf and Country Club, Bill enjoyed many trips with his golf buddies to the US and Scotland. He was unbelievably skilled at restoring antique furniture and refinished his last piece in this his 91st year. Bill will be buried in Ayr, Ontario following a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Covenant House, 20 Gerrard St. East, Toronto, ON M5B 2P3 would be appreciated by the family.
