    William Bish

    One of Waterloo's oldest citizens William Bish, died at his home 34 Alexandra avenue at 12.15 noon on Sunday, following a brief illness in his 89th year. Heart trouble was the cause of death.

    Deceased attended First United church and was a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. Born in lslanoir, Quebec, December 7,
    1845, he has resided in Waterloo since January 1, 1887. He was married 59 years ago.

    He is survived by his wife, five sons, Philip Bish of Echo Place, Ontario, William G. Blah of Port Arthur, Albert E. Bish of Waterloo, James W. Bish of Waterloo, Edward N. Bish of Kitchener, three daughters, Miss Martha B. Bish of Waterloo, Mrs. W. A. Starnaman of Kitchener, Mrs. Frank Tupholme of Toronto. Two sons predeceased him.

    The funeral of the late William Bish was held from his late residence in Waterloo on Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery Rev. Finlay Matheson, pastor of the First United Church in Waterloo officiated

    A former Waterloo citizen, Philip Bish, passed away at his home in Brantford on Tuesday the age of 61.

    The late Mr. Bish was born in Guelph, a son of Mrs. Bish, Alexandra Ave., Waterloo, and the late Wm. Bish. Surviving are his widow, one son Kenneth of Norwich, two daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Ralph Carter) and Olive at home, also four brothers, William, Albert, Edward and James and three sisters, Martha, Mrs. W. A. Starnaman, Kitchener, and Mrs. Frank Tapholme, Toronto, and an aged mother at Waterloo.

    Funeral services will be held on Friday at two p.m., at the residence, 163 Elgin St., Brantford.

    Mrs. Walter A. Starnaman - Mrs. Walter A. Starnaman of 15 Chestnut St. died today at the Coutts Pavilion of Freeport Sanatorium after a brief illness. She was 88. The former Mary Bish, she was born in Guelph, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Bish and had lived in the Twin Cities for 80 years. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church, the Susie Hinman Mission Circle and formerly a member of the Women's Christian Temperance League. She was predeceased by her husband in January, 1938. Surviving are two sons, Robert, and Edson, both of Kitchener; one daughter, Mrs. Lorne (Mabel) Kramer, Kitchener; one brother, James Bish, Waterloo; one sister, Mrs. Frank Tupholme, Toronto; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by one son Herbert in 1963 and by one sister and six brothers. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the Rev. W.L.Pierce and Rev. H.E. Morphy will conduct the service on Thursday at 3: 30 p.m. Burial will be in the Mount Hope cemetery.

    Fred Bish

    Fred, son of Mr. William Bish, of Waterloo, had an accident on Heplop's farm near Strassburg. The young man wanted to ride on a hay-wagon from one field to another, but fell underneath it, when the machine struck a post. He was kicked in the abdomen by a horse and was so severely injured that he died on Sunday.

    SAD DEATH OF FRED BISH.

    It becomes out sad duty to chroni cle the death of Frederick A. Bish, third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Bish, Waterloo, who died at the home of Mr. Robert Hislop, near Strasburg, at 11.45 Sunday morning. Death was due to a kick received from a horse shortly after dinner on Saturday. Fred was employed on Hislop's farm, all summer and on Saturday afternoon was working with a hay rake to which two spirited horses were hitched. While turning too quickly at the end of the field, he drove against the fence and was thrown off the rale. One of the horses kicked him in his left side just below the ribs. Dr. Rice of New Dundee was summoned, and dressed the wounds, but despite all medical aid death relieved him of his sufferings at 11.45 on Sunday. He was conscious to the end. Deceased was aged 20 years and 6 months. The funeral will take place from his father's residence corner Foundry St. and Park Aves., Waterloo, on Thursday, Aug., 13th, to Mount Hope Cemetery. In the runaway one of the horses was considerably hurt.

    BISH, William William (Bill) Edward Bish passed away peacefully on January 4, 2012, at the age of 81. He is mourned by his wife Ruth, sister Rosemary Plummer, sister-in-law Mary Bish, daughters Lucille and her husband Bill McAndrew, and Evelyn, grand-children Bruce and Louise McAndrew and Jake and Nicole White, and pre-deceased by his brother Robert. Bill, a life-long Kitchener resident, was the son of Winnie and Edward Bish, and a fourth generation descendant of George Bechtel, one of the first settlers in this area. He met Ruth Shoemaker at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on May 26, 2011. Bill was the General Manager, then President, of McBrine Luggage for 30 years then Owner/ President of Balcorail for over 10 years. He was active in the YMCA and other service clubs, and Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He loved the family cottage at Grand Bend, where he sailed a self-built sailboat and enjoyed his family and friends. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, Ontario, N2G 1C7 on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. where a funeral service and committal service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Nolan Astley officiating.     BISH, Robert Paul C.A. Died on July 27, 2010 at Lisaard House in Cambridge after a short illness, at the age of 79. Loved and loving husband of Mary with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Will be fondly remembered by his children, Peter of Toronto, Tom and his wife Deborah Lasher of Metuchen N.J. and Jim of Toronto; proud grandfather of Hannah and Daniel Bish of Metuchen N.J. Also survived by brother, William Bish and his wife Ruth of Kitchener; sister, Rosemary Plummer of Waterloo, and eight nieces and nephews. Born June 9, 1931 and raised in Kitchener, he received his C.A. designation in 1954. He spent several years working for General Foods in Cambridge (Preston), ON, Kentville, N.S. and Battle Creek, MI and then returned to public accounting in 1965 in the Kitchener office of a predecessor firm KPMG, becoming a managing partner of the Cambridge office in 1969. After his early retirement in 1979 he began a second career teaching accounting at WLU School of Business and U of W School of Accountancy. Bob was a King's Scout (11th Kitchener), and the inaugural leader of the 26th Kitchener Cub Pack. He was an original member of Waterloo- Wellington CA Association, and served as president. He served as a director of Parkwood Manor Home for Seniors, and director and president of Interfaith Pastoral Counselling Centre. He was named a life director of United Way, having served that organization in many capacities. He was a director and treasurer of Labour Community Services, a director of K-W Counselling Services, and a director and treasurer of Third Age of K-W. Bob's lifelong interest in people and places led him down many paths. He and Mary travelled widely both locally and internationally over their many years as birders. They spent many happy years as Scottish Country Dancers. Bob was a true nature lover and spent many hours in all seasons exploring Ontario's geological features, rivers, waterfalls and forests both by himself, with his boys and with friends from his scouting days. Bob will be remembered by friends, family and associates for the values he quietly embodied. Above all, his life was characterized by love of his wife and family. Cremation has taken place; interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.     Lorna Eleanor age 81 of Cambridge, went to be with God, November 18, 2014, after bravely facing cancer. She was born in Kitchener on February 10, 1933 to Mabel and Lorne Kramer. She graduated from Stratford Normal School, in 1953. On June 30, 1956 she married George Ernest Loker. She is survived by her husband George, her children Gwendolyn Humfries (Douglas), Geoffrey Loker (Barbara), Janice Hamilton (Stephen), and Edward Loker and grandchildren, Trista (Shan), Brittany, Luke, Emily, Benjamin, Daniel, Alexandra and Nicholas She was a Primary School Teacher in Kitchener and Galt for 5 ½ years. She did extensive volunteer work in Joyful Service of her Lord. She was a Girl Guide Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Leader of the Mission Band, President of the Mission Circle, Secretary of the Board for Camp Hermosa for 25+ years, on the Promotion Committee for 9 years, Camp Hermosa Corporation for 60 years and Board of Directors for 10 years, Executive of Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec, Overseas Mission Board committee member now CBM, Past Moderator of the Association of Baptist Churches. She visited church shut-ins and was a prayer warrior. Eleanor and George collected Antique Pressed Glass, amassing over 1000 pieces. She loved travelling, especially enjoying the museums, Ancient Buildings throughout Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe. Degas's Little Dancer, Impressionist Painting were high-lights. Vienna, Rome, Paris and Pompeii were favorite cities. She and George loved to dance and were members of Square and Round Dance Clubs for over 35 years. She was active in Tai chi and exercise programs at the Cambridge Senior's Centres. She was avid reader and enjoyed the Opera. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Baptist Missions, Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec or Camp Hermosa. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge. The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 22nd with visitation from 1-2 p.m. and the funeral at 2 p.m., at Avenue Road Baptist Church, 465 Avenue Road, Cambridge.
