    Notes:

    TILT, John P. - John Tilt died peacefully, at home in Doon, on Monday, December 1, 2008, in his 98th year, with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Marie for over 60 years. Lovingly remembered by his children, Charles (Nancy), Bill (Nancy) and Margaret (Ed Schnurr). Dear grandfather of Michael, Leanne (Mark), Andrew, Daniel, Whitney and Margaret. Survived by his brothers, Russell and George; his nieces and nephews; and predeceased by his sisters, Margaret and Sherrie (Moore). John was born, lived and farmed all his years in Doon. He is renowned for his collection of fancy poultry and waterfowl breeds and his faithful participation in many local Fall Fairs. He exhibited his birds at every Poultry Show of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair since its inception. As well, John was a respected poultry judge having presided at many fairs at the local, national and international levels. John enriched his family's life with his devotion, common sense and spirited opinions gained through hard work and determination which were constants in his life right to his final days. John's legacy will live on in his beloved family. Friends may call at the Tilt Homestead, 31 Tilt Dr., Kitchener, on Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008. Interment to follow at Doon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.     TILT, Charles Russell It is with deep sorrow - but thankfulness - that the family of Charles Russell Tilt announces his passing on November 24, 2014 at his home in Richmond Hill. A well-known and dedicated volunteer in Richmond Hill and in the province of Ontario, he will be missed by all those who knew him and worked with him. A gentle but determined soul who worked for the greater good of the environment. Born in Doon, Ontario in 1919 and after serving in the RCAF during World War II, he continued his education, moving to Richmond Hill in 1950 as an employee and researcher for the Department of Lands and Forests. Here he made his lifelong home. Russell was predeceased by his loving wife Doris, and his brothers, John and George and his sisters, Margaret and Sherrie. He was the last remaining member of his generation. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Susan Purdy and his grandchildren, Charlotte (David), Timothy (Christa) and his great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Marion and Hudson, as well as many nieces and nephews with whom he constantly kept in touch. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church from 7: 00 p.m. to 9: 00 p.m. The service to celebrate Russell's life will be held on Saturday, November 29th, also at the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, at 2: 00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to organizations concerned with the preservation of our Environment.     TILT, George Robert - Passed away peacefully, at home, on Monday, January 12, 2009, in his 85th year. Beloved father of Bob (Janet), Barb (John Jr.) Belez, James (Patricia), Carolyn, Karen and George (Rochenda). Loving grandfather of Rob (Jessica), Dave, Ken, (Caitlin) Tilt, Jessica (Norman) Dupuis, Johnny Belez, Sydney, Hayden, Parker and Ian Tilt. Great-grandfather of Mackenzie Dupuis. Sadly missed by his brother, Russell Tilt; sisters-in-law, Marie Tilt and Doreen Israel; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Bessie Marie, (2001); his second wife Bertha Mae (2008); parents, Charles and Millicent Tilt; sisters, Margaret and Sherrie (Moore); brother, John; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Israel and Don Moore; and sister-in-law, Doris Tilt. George was a third generation of the Tilt Families living in Doon and was proud to continue that tradition with his own family. In his younger years, he farmed with his brother, John on the family farm. After selling the farm, he worked in construction and later was employed by the Waterloo County Board of Education until retirement in 1989. His passion in life was raising poultry and he showed them in many fairs throughout Ontario. He always strived for excellence in the many varieties of breeds he raised. George was a lifetime member of his church where he was actively involved with the preservation and restoration of the Doon Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, January 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the family residence, 1047 Doon Village Road, Kitchener. Transfer will be made on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. to Doon Presbyterian Church, 35 Roos Street, Kitchener for a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Angus Sutherland officiating. Interment at Doon Presbyterian Cemetery. Reception to follow.
