LOCAL JEWELER DIES SUDDENLY

John Henry Heller Was Well Known Business Man; His Death Will Be Widely Mourned.

The community has been bereft of one of its highly respected members in the person of Mr. John Henry Heller, the wellknown jeweler. His death occurred suddenly at 7.15 on Sunday morning following a prolonged illness. The affliction which has terminated fatally was in the way of a nervous breakdown caused by overwork. For some time Mr. Heller had not been well but it was only in the last few weeks that it became serious. He had been away from work for six weeks. The immediate cause of death was heart failure. Mr. Heller was born in this city on August 30, 1868, and his age, therefore, was 52 years, 8 months and 1 day. He spent his life time in his native town. He was a son of the late J. H. Heller, who died a few years ago in whose footsteps he followed both in his exemplary private life and in his successful jewelry business. His acquaintances and friends were many, who admired his unassuming disposition, his friendliness and exemplary qualities. He was in the jewelery business 32 years during which time he built up a high class trade. With his brother established and maintained that business, and won a large number of patrons. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mary Trump, three sons and one daughter, who are Harold, Harry, Edward, and Myrtle (Mrs. A. W. Wallace) of Toronto. There are also four brothers and one sister, who are Fred and Alfred of Kitchener, Adolph of Waterloo, Allie of Frankfort, Ky., and Augusta (Mrs. A. W. Lorsch) of Detroit. The deceased was a member of St. Matthews church and of the local lodge of the Canadian Order of Foresters. The funeral will be held at 2.30 p.m. Wednesday from the residence, 146 South Queen street, and will be private. Interment will be made in Mount Hope cemetery.

Harold E. Heller, an active Mason who had been a practising optometrist in Kitchener for 50 years, died at K-W Hospital Wednesday following a brief illness. He was 77.

Mr. Heller was born in Kitchener, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heller and lived all his life in the Twin Cities. He recently retired to the Parkwood Manor home for senior citizens in Waterloo.

Mr. Heller was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, a life member of Grand River Masonic Lodge and a member of the Kitchener chapter of Royal Arch Masons.

He married the farmer Effie Wallace on Nov. 26, 1919, in Toronto. She died in December, 1963.

Surviving are a son, Douglas of Sudbury; a daughter, Mr& Stanley (Phyllis) Schreiter of Waterloo; a brother, Edward of Kitchener; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Wallace of Toronto, and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Robert and a brother, Harry.

The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the funeral will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. P. R. O'Driscoll officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope cemetery.

SCHREITER, Phyllis Evelyn (nee Heller) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Evelyn Schreiter (nee Heller), on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the age of 89 in Calgary. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her son, John Schreiter and her daughter, Judy Knight (Bill), as well as her five grandchildren, Brandon Schreiter (Shanna), Courtney Schreiter, Lynn Brayshaw (Todd), Steve Breithaupt, Michael Breithaupt (Cassandra), Rian and Sarah knight. As well as her six great-grandchildren Sydnee, Ivy, Kaden, Quinn, Alexandra and Taylor.
