Death of Martin Knarr - Death removed an esteemed resident on Saturday, March 24th, in the person of Martin Knarr. He became suddenly ill on Friday and passed away the following day. Deceased born in Conestogo in 1854 and married Magdalena Cassel in 1878. Four years later they moved onto a farm two miles south of New Dundee, now occupied by their son, Ephraim. Retiring from farming fourteen years ago, he acted as agent for the Massey-Harris Co. A sorrowing wife, one son, four grand-children, one sister and one brother survive.

Mrs. John Israel

Following an illness of two weeks Mrs. John Israel passed away yesterday at her home, 56 Louisa Street, in her 68th year. The late Mrs. Israel was born in Conestogo in 1868, but moved to Peel County about 30 years ago. From there she came to this city, with her husband, where they have since resided. She was a prominent member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and of the Ladies Aid Society. Surviving are her sorrowing husband, two daughters and three sons. They are - John and George of Kitchener and Charles in Peel County, Mrs. W. McWhinney of Listowel and Mrs. L. Westfall of this city. Two brothers and one sister also survive. The are - Alber Knarr, Martin Knarr and Mrs. John Hocischer of this city. The funeral will take place from her residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services will be held at the home and in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Albert Orzen. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Hoelscher By Record Correspondent

ELMIRA, July 11. - Mrs. Mary Hoelscher, 81, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar Ritter, R.R. 2, Elmira, after an illness of four months. Mrs. Hoelscher was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Knarr of Woolwich Township. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira, and of the Ladies Aid Society of the church.

Her husband, John Hoelscher, predeceased her March 9, 1929, and she is survived by two sons, Charles of Toronto and Clayton of R.R. 3, Elmira; one daughter, Mrs. Ritter; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son, Edward, predeceased her in 1947.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira. Interment will be made in the Elmira Cemetery. The body will rest at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor until Wednesday at 1:30 when removal will be made to the church. Friends are requested to pay their respects prior to the service.

DEATH OF JOHN B. KNARR

The death took place yesterday at his home near Erbsville of a highly respected resident of the county in the person of John B. Knarr who passed way at the age of 76 years. The deceased suffered a stroke last Decemer for but up to a few weeks ago has been in fairly good health and his passing ill be learned with regret by a large circle of friends. He leaves to mourn his loss a sorrowing widow six sons William and Allan Erbsville John of Kitchener Edwin St. Agatha, Oscar Waterloo and Herbert Sask and one daughter Emma (Mrs. Adam Schmidt) Heidelberg. Twenty grandchildren all survive. The funeral will be hold on Sunday afternoon June 20th at 2 o'clock (standard time) to the Erbsville church for service and thence to the Erbsville Cemetery for interment.

Ephraim Knarr Passes

Ephraim Knarr, 80, of New Dundee, died in Coutts Pavilion at Freeport Sanatorium Nov. 27, after a brief illness.

Born in Maryborough Township, April 5, 1881, he has resided in the New Dundee area for many years. After his retirement from farming he owned and operated a sales and service deport for farm implements.

He was the son of the later Mr. and Mrs. Martin Knarr. His wife the former Ida Quehl, predeceased him in 1955.

He is survived by three sons, Irvin of New Dundee, John of Tavistock, Elmer of Kitchener, one daughter, Mrs. Delton (Luella) Frey Kitchener, and 15 grandchildren.

The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener, where the funeral will be conducted on Thursday at 2 pm, by Rev. H. F. Schade. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Roseville.

Mrs. Westfall was born in Floradale, a daughter of the late John Israel and the former Anna Knarr; a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leander in 1967, by two brothers, Charles and John and a sister , Emma (Mrs. Wesley Mewhiney).

Surviving are her son, and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Hazel Westfall of Kitchener; a brother, George Israel of Kitchener, and her grandchildren, David of Kitchener and Sandra (Mrs. James Hill) of Stoney Creek.

Friends may call a the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, after 7 p.m. tonight until noon on Monday when removal will be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Queen Street South, for the funeral and committal service at 3 p.m., with Rev John Korcok officiating.

He was born in Woolwich Township, April 30, 1892 son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hoelscher.

He was employed at the Link-Belt Ltd., for thirty years, retiring in 1958 after 22 years in the Toronto Branch. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife the former Edna Bricker, 1 daughter Mrs. W. C. Jean McLean, Elmira, 5 grandchildren, 1 brother Clayton of Elmira, 1 sister Mrs. Oscar Ritter of Elmira, 1 brother predeceased him.

Remains at the Dreisinger funeral Parlour until Friday noon when removal will be made to the church for memorial service at 2:30. Burial will take place in the Elmira Cemetery. Rev. Frank Malinsky will officiate.

The former Lauretta Fried, she was born in Blenheim Township near Roseville and was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. Allan Fried.

She had been a resident of Kitchener for the past six years and formerly lived in the New Dundee area for many years.

She was a member of Grace United Church, Roseville, and the United Church Women.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Gilbert Becker, in 1919 and her second husband, Wilfred Wanner, in 1953 and by one brother and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, R. Willard (Bill) Becker and Ward G. Becker, both of New Dundee; and seven daughters, Mrs. Oliver (Margaret) Bean of New Dundee, Mrs. Peter (Myrtle) Vanderscoot of New Hamburg, Mrs. Wayne (Susie) Shantz of St. Agatha, Cleo Wanner of Kitchener, Mrs. Elgin (Ivy) Musselman of Waterloo, Mrs. John (Reta) Hofstetter of Plattsville, Mrs. Melvin (Dorothy) Shantz of Petersburg; three brothers, Ephraim of Kitchener, Ralph and Clayton, both of Roseville; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Cleo) Latsch of Roseville, Mrs. Harry (Ethel) Brodhaecker of Galt; 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

The body will be at the Ratz- Bechtel Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Tuesday when removal was made to Grace United Church, Roseville, where Rev. A. M. Schlenker conducted the service at 2:30 p.m.

Burial was in the Roseville cemetery.
