Dear sister of Lloyd, Roy, Mrs. Violet Stumpf and Edna Burgetz all of Kitchener. Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Miss Burgetz was born October 20th, 1910 and has been a resident of Cambridge most of her life and a member of Forward Baptist Church. At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation. Private family services will be held at Coutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, 96 St. Andrews Street on Sunday, November 27th. Interment Memory Gardens. As expressions of sympathy donations to Forward Missionary Society would be appreciated by the family.

    Burgetz, Gordon W. - At St. Mary's Hospital, on Thursday, Sept. 8, 1988, following a brief illness, Gordon Burgetz, of King Street East, Kitchener, and formerly of Stratford, age 73 years.

    Gord previously owned and operated Burgetz Grocery in Stratford for 21 years, latterly he worked with Thomson Greengrocers, also in Stratford before his retirement. He was a member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church.

    Beloved husband of Luella (Kropf) and loving father of Bruce and his wife Emily of Toronto; dear brother of Irene Everett and Alta Burgetz, both of Cambridge (G), Violet Stumpf, Edna Burgetz, Lloyd and Roy Burgetz, all of Kitchener. Also sadly missed by his grandchildren, Stephanie, Ingrid and Kristen and many nieces and nephews.

    Predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Laura Prickett and Lillian Johnson and two brothers, John and Harry.

    Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Saturday, transfer will be made to Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, for funeral services at 2 p.m. Internment Woodland cemetery.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or Stirling Avenue WMA Memorial Fund.

    1918-2006

    Passed away, peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on January 26, 2006, at the age of 87 years.
    Beloved husband of more than 66 years to Florence. Special father-in-law of Darlene Burgetz. Cherished grandfather of Cathie (Darryl) McClennan, Dan (Kelly) Burgetz and Jim (Michelle) Burgetz. Proud great-grandfather of Sarah and Michael McClennan and Kaela, Jayden and Joshua Burgetz. Survived by his sisters-in-law Loretta and Luella Burgetz and several nieces and nephews.

    Predeceased by his son Allan Roy Burgetz, his parents Allan and Julia Burgetz, brothers Lloyd, Harry, John and Gordon and sisters Laura, Lillian, Irene, and Alta, Violet and Edna.

    Roy served as a gunner in the Royal Canadian Air Force during service in the Second World War and went on to own and operate several businesses, including Complete Rentals in the K-W and Guelph areas.

    Friends are invited to share their memories of Roy with his family during visitation at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo today (Friday, January 27, 2006) from 204 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue beginning at 10 a.m. at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church on Saturday, January 28, 2006 with the service to celebrate Roy's life and faith to follow at 11 a.m. the Pastor Kevin Peters Unrau as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Following the committal service, friends are invited to join the family back at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church for refreshments and a time to visit.

    In Roy's memory, donations may be made to Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church and can be arranged through the funeral home.

    Harold Burgetz of Kitchener

    Born: Jan. 12, 1933, in Kitchener

    Died: Nov. 18, 2016, of age-related illness

    Harold Burgetz was born in a 1920s Mennonite homestead located on a Kitchener street named in his family's honour. His education didn't extend beyond Grade eight and from childhood he understood the meaning of hard physical work.

    Harold never married and instead would spend his life living with his unmarried sister, Alice Burgetz, in that same house where they both were born and where they cared for their father until he died in 1981.

    While Harold's life might have appeared lonely, even unfulfilled, such assumptions are wrong.

    The Burgetz family has always been a close bunch and after nieces and nephews began arriving, Harold quickly became the favourite uncle and the target of lots of hugs.

    Niece Judy Shantz adored her uncle, said he was an uncomplicated sort of man, naïve in ways and given to trusting people. It meant he was sometimes taken advantage of but Harold seemed to flow through life, happy and content with what he had.

    Harold was born the youngest of five on a homestead in what was then known as the German Company Tract, an area that later became Waterloo Township. Today the house is unassuming, an aging two story aluminum sided structure. But behind the modern cladding is a surprise: broad axe hewn logs from a nearby bush and thick, wooden walls with wide chinking. Each old room is a repository for stories, not all of them happy.

    Harold's parents, Lucinda and John, moved into the house as newlyweds, but the small piece of property made it difficult to eke out a living as market gardeners.

    The family of Larry would like to announce his passing after a brief battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He died peacefully into the hands of the Lord, his Savior in the early morning hours of April 1st. Beloved husband of Mary Esther. Loving father of Mark (Kiki) of Cambridge, Sara Jane Doner (Marlin) of Pittsburgh, Jessica Thompson (Brad) of Etobicoke. Also survived by his grandchildren Joshua, Jordan (Rachel), William and Zachary, and his sister Dorothy Everett of Cambridge. Larry was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Irene Everett and his brother Donald. Born in Cambridge on July 3, 1940, and has lived all his life in Cambridge. Larry was a retired barber in Cambridge, and a member of Forward Church. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Forward Church 455 Myers Rd Cambridge on Monday April 4, 2016 from 1:30 P. M. until service time at 3 P. M.
