    Of 140 Royal Oak Rd., Cambridge, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1986, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Mary Huber; dear father of Bert and his wife Carol of Kitchener, Marg (Mrs. Jim Peterman) of Cambridge (G), Rita (Mrs. Bob Rittenhouse) of Kitchener; brother of Hilbert of Kitchener, Clarence of Wellesley, Eleanor Dietrich of Kitchener, Rose Drussell of Maryland, USA. Also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Predeceased by one daughter, Mary Anne Cater; four brothers and five sisters. Mr. Straus was born in Bamberg, Ont.; a resident of Cambridge (P) for 44 years. Employed by Canadian Office and School Furniture for a number of years, retiring from Beaver Furniture. A member of St. Clement's RC Church, the Knights of Columbus, Preston Horticultural Society, the Galt Horticultural Society and the Hespeler Horticultural Society, Kitchener Senior Citizens Club. Friends will be received at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St Clement's RC Church, Duke Street, Cambridge, Friday, Oct. 31, 1986, at 10 a.m. Interment at Parklawn cemetery.

    Funeral service was held Friday in Erbsville for Ralph Thomas Straus, of 32 Hincks street, New Hamburg, formerly of RR3 Wellesley (Bamberg). He died January 6, 1987, at K- W hospital. He was 60.

    He was the husband of Hilda Marie Giesel; father of Diane (Mrs. Walter Ferguson), of RR1 Bright, and Arlene (Mrs. John Kropf), of RR1 Tavistock; son of Mary Straus, of St. Agatha, and the late Michael Straus; brother of Gerard Straus, of Baden; Eugene Straus, of RRI St. Agatha, Jacob Straus and Sister Micheline, SSND, both of Waterloo, Sister Caroline, CSJ, St. Agatha, Sister Mildred, SSND, Cambridge, Sister Christina, CSJ. Guelph, Sister Lucy, CSJ, Hamilton, Adeline (Mrs. Don Haber), Brantford, and Lucille (Mrs. Jack Delisle), Red Deer, Alberta; also survived by three grandchildren, Cheryl, Randy and Cindy Ferguson; predeceased by one brother, Wilfred Straus, and one sister, Rita Straus.

Walter's family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, Flamingo Drive, Elmira on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 10: 30 a.m. with Rev. Sudie MacDonald C.R. officiating followed by interment in St. Clements RC Cemetery. She was instrumental in the Baptismal Program and the CWL. She was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She volunteered at St. Michael's School where she ran the craft club and the Strong Start reading program. She was a member of the Lang's Farm Village Association and the Red Hat Society. Cremation has taken place.
